3 Ways To Find Your Summer Style Inspiration

Untitled design (9)

I’m always on a mission to get that perfect chic summer Parisian look, which looks super effortless no matter what the temperature, country or occasion. It’s a look that I love to admire and which I’m really trying to build my capsule summer wardrobe into. During the rest of the year, I love to have multiple pieces I can wear for all seasons and weather’s, but with summer I like to really choose my key go-to items that all work well together and can create some gorgeous looks. However, I personally find a chic and classic summer wardrobe pretty hard to nail and not let the heat and convenience of shorts and a tee become my staple wardrobe. So, I’m sharing 3 ways that I’m loving, to gain inspiration for my summer style…

1. Get On Pinterest– As you all know I’m a massive fan of Pinterest and I can’t get enough of scrolling through all the beautiful images and quotes they have. However, what I love even more is the amount of gorgeous style inspiration. So, I love to make a fashion and style inspiration mood board, get scrolling and pin some of my favourite images on there. Then, you can come back to it later, when you’re stuck for outfit inspiration or packing for a holiday.

2. Spend Time In Your Wardrobe– This may sound a bit ridiculous, but honestly one of the best ways to feel inspired by your summer style is to know exactly what items you have. Start by clearing out all your colder, winter pieces and then focus on all the beautiful summer pieces you have. This way you can start to see what colour palette’s you’ve got going on and plan what items you can wear with what.

3. Be Nosy- One of my favourite things to do is people watch and so mix this with a way of gaining some good style inspiration, and I’m hooked. I’m talking just observing what other women’s outfits, what colours, styles or patterns they’ve styled with what, or even how the mannequins have been dressed in shop windows.

With style it’s all about being inspired and having the intrigue to want to play around with your wardrobe and create some gorgeous outfit combinations.

#SS 6 | 10 Reasons Why I’ve Loved Summer This Time Around

13962609_1259602667391640_1462071096927318279_n.jpg

When it comes to my favourite seasons in the year, summer doesn’t normally come into that list. The lack of sun that we usually have in the UK, the variety of interesting summer dressing that appears and the lack of really good TV; makes summer one of my less favourite seasons. However, I think summer 2016 may have finally been able to bring me around to changing my opinion, on the hottest season of the year. If we’re lucky. So, I thought I would share 10 reasons why I have loved summer, this time around…

1. In the UK we have actually had more sun than rain. Usually UK summers are absolutely nothing to talk about and definitely not anything you could really enjoy. If it’s not raining then it’s unbearably hot, there’ s not normally any in-between. But, this year has been different and we’ve actually had lot’s of gorgeous sunny weather, to the point where I’ve even managed to get a bit of tan.

2. I think I’ve finally found my perfect summer style. Summer dressing is something I’ve always struggled with, and even up to a few months ago I’ve found it really hard to nail down what trends and style’s I love for summer and which ones I’m going to give a miss. However, I feel like now I’ve really got my summer style semi-nailed thanks to finding some of my ultimate summer wardrobe items and putting it all together to create my ideal holiday wardrobe.

3. Spending time with my mum. When it comes to who I love to spend time with the most, my mum is always someone who comes out tops. We love doing the same things, which is usually shopping, have the same interests and just love spending time together. I think it’s so important to care and take time to really look after your family, especially your mum, as you only get one after all. You can find about more about me HERE.

4. Really enjoying photography and using Instagram. These two things come hand in hand, because this summer I’ve loved documenting my summer through taking beautiful photo’s to share with all of you on Instagram. Why don’t you go and give me a little follow @rachelydia? I’ve got a little theme going on and I’ve just really enjoyed taking lovely photo’s, from my holidays and fun things I’ve done during the summer, to document on my Instagram. Although, I don’t know what I’m going to fill my Instagram with when Autumn hits.

5. Getting a good work balance. This is one of the more boring reasons of this post, however if you have a part time job then you will know where I’m coming from. Sometimes you end up working way too much and have no time to enjoy summer, even though you’re going to have a massive pay cheque at the end of the month. But, this year I’ve been lucky and managed to get a good balance, with a bit of work but also free time.

6. The #SummerSpecial blog series. If you didn’t already know, for the whole month of August, I decided to embark on a new blogging adventure and create a monthly series inspired by summer. I’ve loved challenging myself to keep to my blogging schedule, even though this post is going to up a bit late today, and experimenting with some better content. You can go and catch up on the series HERE.

7. Changing up my hair and makeup. This summer I’ve really loved changing up my hair and trying out a few new different hair style’s to wear. My go-to one, at the minute, has to be having a scalp braid in the top section of my hair and then having loose waves/curls, in the rest of my hair. Make up wise I’ve been addicted to changing up my eye makeup and buying new palette’s. I’ve really been loving the more rose gold vibe and a lighter crease colour.

8. Party planning. This is almost a bit of a cheat, because the party I’m planning for is not actually in the summer, but I’ve still been making plans for it, during the last few months. I’m having a party to celebrate my 18th Birthday in October, and so I’ve really been enjoying doing all things party related. Designing invitations, making and getting decorations and ultimately finding the perfect venue.

9. A new series. I’ve really loved watching an original BBC comedy called ‘Boy Meets Girl’. It’s an hilariously funny drama that follows a young couple, and their family, through life and preparing to get married. I’ve really been enjoying having a good laugh and I just think you can’t beat a really good comedy. The new series of ‘Friday Night Dinner’ on channel 4 is also amazing as well. I really recommend you go and have a watch of both of them.

10. Having holidays in the UK. I usually think that in order to have a really good, sunny summer holiday, then abroad is the only way to go. However, this year I was proved completely wrong ,as I went on my summer holiday to Eastbourne and Brighton. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and Brighton is such a vibrant and amazing place to visit, I really recommend a trip. Also, a trip to the Sherwood Center Parcs proved to me that you can have a really good holiday in the UK, with the amazing accommodation and sub tropical swimming paradise.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post and are loving your summer so far. You can go and catch up with the rest of the #SummerSpecial series HERE.

#SS | 5 Products I Loved Using Whilst On Holiday

IMG_2539[1].JPGIMG_2540[1]

During summer and packing for holidays, I always find myself digging out those mini products, which are perfect for travelling with, and also falling back in love with some of my old favourite’s. So, after popping over to the Brighton Coastline for a week away, I thought I would share 5 products, which I loved using, whilst on my summer holiday…

Wild Argan Oil Shower Gel | The Body Shop

Shower gel is not normally a product that I’m particularly fussy about, because I’ve never really found one that I love to use. I’ve never seen the difference between using different shower gel’s, or the real benefits of using one particular one. However, after discovering this mini version of the Wild Argan Oil shower gel, from the body shop, my opinion quickly changed. I loved how this shower gel is so nourishing for your skin and how it makes shaving a lot smoother and easier to create a good finish. This mini will cost you around £4, however I’m definitely planning on investing in the full size one, because I really love everything about this product.

Ultra Matte Lip Colour | Revlon

I’ve raved about this product before, which you can go and have a read of HERE. However recently I had fallen out of love with the classic nude shade of this matte lip colour, and was bored of just how much I was loving this product. But, this didn’t last for long, as it really was my ultimate go-to lip product, whilst I was on holiday, and a product I just couldn’t get enough of. It look so effortless chic, natural and also simple on the lips, whilst adding a product which pulls your whole makeup look together and that goes with endless beauty combinations. It really is the perfect everyday lip product, whether that’s a summer day out or a date night, and I would really recommend trying it out if you’re a lover of a good nude lip.

Daily Intimate Wash | Femfresh

Personally I’ve never seen the point in having a separate intimate wash, and I’ve always just considered my general shower gel as being good enough for all parts of my body. However, after packing a free mini which I got from a goodie bag, in my toiletry bag and tried it out, I soon realised that my opinion was completely wrong. This Femfresh intimate wash is made to suit the PH of your intimate area’s, which other shower gel’s do not consider, and therefore they can be too harsh and also not necessarily do what you want them to do. So, this wash allows you to wash your intimate area’s in a way which is safe and not too harsh for these private area’s. It’s a product which is probably disregarded, however it really is worth a try and you will be able to see the difference for yourself.

‘Perfect Topping’ Mineralise Skin Finish | Mac

A good highlighter is key to any summer makeup look, and I personally like a subtle glow that leaves your cheekbones with a natural highlight; and this Mineralise Skin Finish does the job. With pearlescent tones of cream, nude, brown and a light violet, they combine to create the perfect topping to your cheek bones. It is a slightly more expensive product, at around £24 , however it lasts for absolutely ages and I’ve been using mine for over 2 years now and it’s still yet to run out. It’s not an overly obvious highlighter, however it looks really natural and that’s the vibe, I’m always trying to achieve, with my everyday makeup look.

‘022 Sun Bronze’ Natural Bronzer | Rimmel

Bronzer has to be one of my staple makeup products, and that’s because I honestly don’t know how I would be able to complete my everyday makeup face without the use of it. Being English and getting almost no sun in the UK, I’m often pale and bronzer is the only amount of colour I’m every going to get on my face. However, finding the perfect one is less than an easy job, due to the large amount of orange and terrocota toned products on the high-street. So, when I discovered this Rimmel Natural bronzer, through a recommendation from one of my favourite youtubers, I fell in love with it. The formulation of the product is amazing; it’s long lasting, long wearing, the colour pigment is super natural and the perfect tone for my skin, and it’s also a really affordable price. This will set you back around £6, however it’s the best affordable bronzer I’ve ever used, and I would really recommend it if you have more pale, but yellow toned skin.

So, I thought it would be good to mix these two passions of mine together, and share 32 High-Street style pieces that you can add to your summer wardrobe today…

Personally dressing well and having a good wardrobe is really important to me, because I honestly believe that it makes a real difference to your own confidence and how other the people perceive you. Having a great outfit on, which you love, will do wonders to your confidence and how you feel your can conquer everyday and more important tasks. The bardot dress is amazing because of just versatile it is and how it would be able to worn with almost any colour accessories. However, tan coloured ones would look gorgeous. These pom pom sandals are so unique and I’ve honestly never seen such a statement footwear piece from the high-street. The nude suede of the sandals makes them really chic and sophisticated, and able to worn with a lot of different colours, as the pom poms add a different texture to any outfit. This backpack uses the decorative technique of embroidery to add a gorgeous pattern to a very basic style of backpack. This would be perfect to add a pop of colour to a basic outfit and would look super cool for a festival outfit. In addition, this floral hair accessory would also look really nice for a festival hair look, and adds a different metallic, feminine look to an outfit. New Blog Series | #SummerSpecial

_Summer Special Facebook Post.jpg

If you follow me on any of my social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or even Pinterest, then you will know that I’m embarking on a new post series venture, to celebrate summer 2016. I just thought that as rachelspick is now a bit more grown up, with it’s own domain name and chic new design, that it was time to up my game a little bit and create something, for you all to look forward to and enjoy. There hasn’t been any form of monthly series, over on here, for a very long time and so I thought I owed it to my little blog, and to all my readers, to create something new, packed full of  exciting content; which I will love creating and you will hopefully all enjoy reading.

I’m sure you’re all wondering what the series is all about, and all the juicy details of when it’s going to be happening. So, the series will be running throughout the whole month of August and will be packed full of summer themed content, along the way. My post schedule will stay the same, with a new post every Wednesday and Sunday at 6pm, however there may also be a few extra posts thrown in as well. I always find summer a really difficult time for blogging, especially creating interesting content that people will want to take time out of the sun to read and also to find time to blog and keep to some form of schedule. So, this series is almost a bit of a challenge for me as well, to try and push myself to create exciting content and keep to a schedule.

Throughout the month there will be a variety of current content, which I already write about and love, such as Fashion, style, lifestyle, however I’m also going to be venturing into a bit of D.I.Y and beauty, during the month as well. There’s going to summer style inspiration, festival hair, makeup and outfit ideas, summer D.I.Y’s and I’ll also be sharing some pictures from my own summer holiday’s too.

I’m really excited to be trying something new with this series, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I will love creating the content for you.
