The Casual Spring Pastels

IMG_3191IMG_3189

Dressing for Spring is something I’ve been waiting for such a long time. I can’t wait to finally be able to put those thick knits away, say goodbye to those winter scarves, hats and gloves, and say hello to my spring wardrobe. As the weather has been getting slightly warmer in the UK, I’ve been starting to piece together some fresh spring outfits, mixing some of my classic spring pieces from the last few years, with a few of my new favourite items thrown in to.

This everyday casual, spring pastels look is a perfect example of this, as it mixes a pair of my classic, go-to black high-waisted jeans from M&S, along with my gorgeous blush pink trench, a spring cotton shirt and tied it all together with my new beautiful pair of grey suede knee-high boots. This is my favourite look for a casual day out shopping, or heading out for a coffee date. The mix of the light pink and blue pastels pair perfectly with the classic, chic black and the texture of the suede boot. Altogether the whole look just oozes my sense of style; classic colour blocking with a bit of texture thrown in there too.

THE BLUE PASTEL SHIRT: This is a piece I’ve had for while but I still love it just as much as when I bought it. It’s a classic buy from Topshop in the Tall section, and is the perfect fit for me. I have a long body so sometimes finding shirts that fit in all the right places and that’s also long enough, can be difficult.

I love to bring this out every spring/summer as it’s a really light-weight cotton, so it keeps you cool in summer and warmer in the early spring season. It looks perfect paired with so many different colours and can be dressed up for a night out or dressed down for a casual everyday look paired with converse.

THE BLUSH TRENCH: This trench is one of my favourite pieces as soon as springs starts to roll around. I bought it to wear for one of my best friend’s weddings last year, and fell in love with it straight away. It fits like a glove and is a perfect statement coat to wear for spring. I always love a good trench at this time of the year as they still give some warmth, but are also still light and can instantly look so chic. This one is a purchase from Debenhams last year, and was around 40.00, however pastels are really big again this spring/summer 18, so I’m sure there will be lots of similar ones across the high-street.

THE JEANS: I’ve spoken so much about these already, so I’ll make this one short and sweet. These jeans are the best ones I’ve found on the high-street for my body shape and budget. They’re super good quality, have a really good fit and are just the perfect pairing to any outfit, whether night or day.

THE BOOTS: These are my favourite piece from the whole entire outfit, and also my newest purchase. I’m really into knee-high boots at the moment, as I love how classy they look and they’re so super versatile for autumn/winter and spring/summer, as you can pair them with jeans, skirts and also dresses. These were a great buy from River Island back in February for only 40.00, down from 60.00; as I think they were trying to clear some of their winter stock. However, I think these are super spring appropriate too, as I love how classic and chic grey is and how comfy they are to walk in, and on your leg as well.

Are you looking forward to styling up some spring outfits? What are going to be your key pieces for this season?

A Chic New Years Eve Outfit

IMG_3136IMG_3140

Getting dressed up is one of my favourite things to do, and especially when it’s an outfit that I love. You don’t really get the chance to do it every day, as you’re heading to uni or work, so it’s so nice to spend the time to do your hair and makeup and choose a great outfit to live the night in. New Years Eve is always a special occasion for me and means a lot, so this outfit will have some many memories for me from an amazing night with family, friends and my boyfriend.

IMG_3139The main piece of my outfit was this gorgeous blush pink blazer from LKBennett, and was also such a bargain. It was such a great buy from Biscester Outlet village, and was supposed to be orginally around £348, and I got it for only £83. I couldn’t believe the price tag when i first saw it on the rail, and as soon as i tried it on i fell in love with it. Not only is the colour so gorgeous, it also fits like a glove and looks so classic. It looks elegant and chic, but still has a young, feminine twist, which i know will never go out of style. It’s a piece ill be able to keep in my wardrobe for years and something i know I’ll love forever.

So to make the most of this gorgeous piece, I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit fairley simple and put together, to draw the look into one. To do this, I paired the blazer with my favourite black lace cami from new look. I love how chic and femine this looks, and it contrasts the hard tailoring of the blazer perfectly. It’s also so comfortable and such a staple in my wardrobe. I just wish they brought them out again, as i’ve wanted more ever since, and really fancy a grey, mink or blush pink one.

Then, to finish the look off I paired it with a pair of grey, faux leather trousers. They might look a bit weird, but they add so much class to an outfit and a bit of luxury, as it’s not the traditional denim jeans. As well as the trousers, I wanted to add a bit of sparkle to my outfit, and so i added thsi goregous opal necklace, that i bought from a small independant jewellery stall a few years ago. I dont get that much chance to wear it, but it looked perfect with this outfit and the pink of the blazer picked up the pink of the opal perfectly.

Party wear has to my favourite type of clothing because I really love getting all dressed up and feeling super glamourous, on a night out. I’m a real girly girl and I love being able to don a real good pair of high heels, a pair of false eye lashes and I’m ready for the great night ahead. When it comes to my party style, I either love a good statement piece, that I can throw on and instantly look put together, or I prefer something more simple and timeless; that I can dress up or down and is great piece for any occasion. So, as I’m really in the party spirit at the minute, with lot’s of my friends 18th birthday celebrations and even a hen do to go to, I thought I would share some of the items I’m lusting over at the minute.

Handbags are one of my true obsesions in life and I love collecting unique and wonderful gems, that I can treasure forever. This Lulu Guiness lips clutch is one clutch i’ve been lusting over for years, because it’s such an iconic and feminine design. I love how this one channels the popular metallics trend, which adds a hard edge to the piece, with the soft curves of the lips design. It’s such a statement piece, super timeless and although it’s expensive, I’m hope one day I’ll will be able to add it to my collection.

A really good pair of high heels is something you can’t beat on a night out, and to have a really gorgeous and super feminine, statement pair is even better. This lovely pair from Public Desire are literally giving me so much shoe envy, as they’re so unique and really pretty. They’re my favourite style of heel, as they’re really strappy and not too high. So the whole vibe of the shoe is elegant, sophisticated and gorgeously feminine. I think I’m going to have to add these to my collection, in the next few months.

What’s your favourite partywear vibe this year?

Dressing for the festive season is all about raiding your wardrobe for anything sparkly and maybe even buying a few new sequin pieces or two; and New Years Eve is no exception. It’s all about celebrating the last night of 2016 in style, and there’s no way you’re going to be rocking a simple little black number. It’s the one night of the year you can really let your style go and choose a piece that you will sparkle in all night; and know that even if 2016 hasn’t been the best year for you, at least you looked amazing in the last few hours of it. So, as this New Years Eve is just around the corner, I thought I would share 17 Sparkly Buys, all under £50…

When it comes to some of the biggest style trends for 2016, knee high boots and body suits have to be mentioned. These sparkly black, knitted Knee High boots, from Boohoo, have to be the perfect piece of footwear to rock for new years eve. They look super chic, elongate your legs and also look amazing paired with a shift or tee-shirt style dress. This pair also have a really lovely point on the end of each boot, which is bang on trend for A/W 16 & 17 and also adds a sharp contrast to a feminine look. On the other hand, this sparkly body suit, from Topshop, would be a great piece to wear if you love a good sequin or two, and want to create a more statement outfit to wear this new years eve. The high neck adds a sense of class, however the plunging slit on the chest keeps it super feminine and sexy. It would look great paired with a more tailored pencil skirt or even jeans, if you’re looking for a more casual look.

A really good dress is a piece I can never fail to love in my wardrobe, and I think new years is no exception. They create an effortlessly chic vibe to your whole outfit and are so easy to throw on and create instant glamour. This one from Pretty Little Thing would be the perfect piece, as it’s not only in a really on trend nude colour, but with pop’s of embellishment it keeps the piece fun and super party appropriate. I’m also really in the love with the long sleeves and the deep slit on the cleavage. However, is bodycon is not your thing and you prefer a piece that’s much more loose and comfortable to wear, then this sparkly blue, ombre shift dress from Zara, would be the perfect choice. The ombre sequin detail makes it a real statement piece and super easy to throw on and pair with some of your favourite neutral heels. The dress really does all the talking and the loose shift style makes it really comfortable to wear, all night long, and will cover a multitude of Christmas sins.

What are you planning to wear this New Years Eve?

Halloween is just around the corner, and of course that means planning the perfect seasonal outfit. It’s the one time of the year you can really go all out creepy, spooky and altogether weird and wonderful. However, a really good Halloween costume can often break the bank, which the majority of us can’t afford. So, I’m sharing 18 Halloween costume buys, with you all, that are all available from the high-street and super affordable.

If you’re looking to add a little bit of that Halloween spirit into your outfit, but don’t want to all out, then a few spooky themed accessories are the way to go. This gorgeous pair of vailed bunny ears, from Topshop, are the perfect piece. They are really chic and sophisticated, but also add that little bit of Halloween sexiness, with the ‘bunny’ vibe. You can throw them on really quickly, add a dark lip or a good smoky eye, and instantly pass off a normal outfit for a creepy Halloween themed one. They’re only £12.00 and are a real bargain, especially as you will be able to wear them for many Halloween’s to come and they will never go out of fashion. I also really love these black feathered angel wings, from Topshop. They add the perfect amount of that ‘dark angel’ vibe, and they can be thrown on with any dress to pull the whole outfit together. They’re super versatile and could be worn with anything, by anyone, however they are a bit pricey at £50.00 and aren’t within everyone’s budget. They’re more of a splurge Halloween piece, for if your throwing a party of your own, to celebrate, or for a very special seasonal occasion. 18-high-street-halloween-costume-buys-rachelspick-2

Alternatively, there’s lot’s of lovely Halloween themed clothing pieces that you can use to create a more chic and feminine Halloween costume. One of my favourite pieces has to be this orange velvet playsuit, from ASOS. The bright, bold colour instantly screams Halloween and pumpkins, however it’s not the traditional black colour and adds something unique to your look. It’s really playful and girly, would look amazing paired with black and silver Halloween accessories and could even be worn for a normal night out, if orange is a colour you really like. I think it’s a great piece if you’re wanting a costume a little bit more main stream and girly, this Halloween.

On the other hand, there’s these thigh-high, black, lace up boots from ASOS. They absolutely scream Halloween and there’s no getting away from there sexy, get slightly creepy, vibe. They would look amazing paired with a playsuit or a dress and would instantly create a stylish and girly take on the gory Halloween costume. The bows on the top look really cute, and pull the look statement pair together; definitely making you stand out in the crowd.
