Get Ready With Me | My 19th Birthday

A birthday is always an excuse for me to get dressed up and enjoy being a bit more glamourous than I am everyday; and my 19th birthday was no exception. After such an amazing 18th year, I knew I had to go into my 19th with a bit of a bang, no way as big as last years, but a good celebration was in order. So, to make sure the night kicked off in the right way, I made sure I had an outfit on that I loved and felt really good in, as well as pulling it all together with hair and makeup that had a kind of everyday glam vibe. I was so happy the outfit as a whole I thought I would share it in a blog post with you all….

The Outfit

When it comes to going out, I’m a massive fan of having that one key item that you can put on and feel instantly put togther and ready for the evening. Whether that’s a dress playsuit or a jumpsuit, a love a good one hit wonder I suppose; except I love to wear them over and over again and they’re my trusty go-to pieces. So, when it came to choosing an outfit for my birthday drinks in my local city, it was a no brainer that I wanted to pick one of these items from my wardrobe. So, this red, lace dress from AX Paris ended up being the dress of choice for the evening, purely becaause I feel really good when I wear it, it looks good and I could also pair it with a good old red lip.

To finish the look off, I wanted to make the dress the main focus point and so I stuck to a more neutral colour palette. I went for a beautiful pair of patent nude high heels, with a good platform to add a bit of height to the evening. These are far from the most comfortable heels I own, but they look amazing on, and so that balanced out the pain they cause. Then I added my trusty rose gold Pandora rings, and my Armani exchange watch and a black and white clutch to tie it all together. To be honest the bag wasn’t my first choice, but I couldn’t find the bag I really wanted to use so I had to make so with this one.

Hair & Makeup

For my hair and makeup I went for a more everyday glam look, as I wanted to still look natural with a bit more of a dressed up version. So I created a gorgeous brown smoky eye to add a bit of depth to my makeup look and a bit of intensity to the eye, using the Morphe 35T palette. This is actually one of the loves of my life and would really recommend buying it because it`s so versatile, and it also helps that it looks beautiful as well. To complement the eye look I went for bronzed, dewy skin and a good old matte red lip. I wasn’t the most popular with my boyfriend, but it tied the whole look together. When it came to my hair, I went for my trusty loose curls but added lots of extra volume, to the roots, to add bit of extra glam to the whole look. This just brought it all together and made me love my hair for the whole night.

The Night

I headed to a few local bars in my local city for drinks and a cocktail or two, with my boyfriend and 6 of my best friends. I had an amazing night chatting, drinking and catching up with them all, especially as three of them are at uni away from home and I don’t get to see them that much. To be honest it was quite a messy night, as I made the mistake of mixing too many drink combinations. However, I was the birthday girl and so I had a good excuse to get drunk.

What I Bought On Holiday | Normandy Edition

IMG_3129[1]IMG_3130[1]IMG_3133[1]

Feminist Tee-Shirt | Pimkie, Floral Kimono | Pimkie, Embroided Bralette’s | H&M, Grey Silky Shorts| H&M, Purple Scalloped Playsuit | H&M

Clothes shopping abroad is something I always want to fit in, during my holiday. This is because I love finding some beautiful pieces, which ‘hopefully’ not everyone in the UK will be wearing. It’s so fascinating browsing their shops and seeing their trends and most popular items for the season. A lot of the time it is very similar to the UK, however I do generally find they’re always one or two seasons behind us, as London is a real hub for fashion and very influential in the latest trends.

So, as I’ve just recently got back from a lovely holiday in Normandy in France, I thought I would share some of the lovely items I picked up during my visit…

Feminist Tee-Shirt | Pimkie | £5.00

Pimkie is my favourite shop to look in whenever I’m in France, because I love the generally girly style of their items and their price points are also really good. Some of their items are probably aimed at younger teenage girls, however I always love to see what pieces they have and hopefully add a few more beautiful pieces to my wardrobe. I think that they are also stocked on ASOS, if you want to try and get hold of any of their items.

When I saw this feminist tee I knew I had to have it, because I’m really into wearing relaxed grey tee’s with white jeans and converse, at the minute, for a super casual summer look. I also loved the word on it, because I am a feminist and do really believe that all genders should have equal equality and the opportunity to be treated fairly. So, I do think it’s good to promote that, even though I’m far from a hard core, bra burning feminist.

Floral Kimono | Pimkie | £13.50

I have a bit of a love hate relationship with kimono’s, because I do really love how they look on and how they draw a summer outfit together, but I just never seemed to be reaching for the ones I had in my wardrobe. However, recently I’ve seen so many women rocking them with jeans and mixing patterns with striped and graphic tee’s. So, when I saw this beautiful floral one in the sale for 15 euro’s, I thought it would be a great chance to try and really fall in love with them again. And, so far it’s been working wonders, and I’m obsessed with pairing it with white jeans and a delicate lace cami. It just looks so feminine, girly and also great for a festival as well.

Embroided Lace Bralette’s | H&M | £16 each

Having small boobs actually makes finding comfortable bra’s really difficult, because you don’t have that much to fill a traditional bra cup and I often find the tee-shirt style bras that do fit, just aren’t that pretty. So, bralette’s are my go to when it comes to a beautiful and yet still comfortable bra. Not all bralette’s suit me, as we all have different bodies and feel comfortable wearing different things, however as soon as I tried these embroided one’s on from H&M, I instantly fell in love. They have a really comfortable elasticated band, and four different sets of loops at the back, so you can alter the fit as much as you like. The fit around the boob is also really good, they surprisingly give a good amount of support and also look so beautiful. The only down side is that you can’t wear them under anything sheer as you can really see the embroidery, unless of course that’s the look you’re going for on a night out.

Grey Silky Shorts | H&M | £18

Shorts are another item I really struggle with, because I like to have a really good high-waisted fit, as that’s what flatters my body shape the most. However, being tall makes it’s so hard to find ones that actually do this, and don’t pull near your crotch. So, when I found this gorgeous grey, silky pair from H&M, and they fitted and looked so beautiful, they were straight in my basket. I love how they have a paper bag style, elasticated waist; that you draw in with the tie and tuck in a top to create a really nice shape. The colour is also so beautiful, super chic and classic; a perfect match to my style and wardrobe. The only thing I would say, is that they can look like pyjama’s really easily, so you have to be careful what you pair them with.

Purple Scalloped Playsuit | H&M | £25-£30

Playsuits are one of my favourite pieces to wear during the summer, because they’re so easy to just throw on and instantly have a beautiful outfit, and also have the comfort of shorts which prevents any type of pant flash that could happen. So, when I tried this beautiful scalloped edged one from H&M, I knew it had to come home with me. I absolutely love the deep purple colour, which I think really compliments my hair and skin colour and would also be great for that summer to autumn transition as well. The scalloped detail makes it super feminine, without being over the top, and the open backed design looks beautiful on a special occasion.

The Style Tag

The Fashion Tag (1)

This year I really want to share more of my own personal style, and the items that I love in my wardrobe. I’m obsessed with constantly evolving my wardrobe, finding new pieces to add to my collection and new ways to style of my favourite items. So, I thought I would do my own version of The Fashion Tag and give you an insight into just what I’m loving, about fashion at the minute…

1. How would you describe your style?

I’d describe my style as timeless chic, as I love to invest in items in my wardrobe that I know I will be able to wear for years to come, and that will always look chic. I really like muted tones, of white’s, black’s and nude’s, but with pops of the on trend colour of the season. I’m not a massive fan of patterns, so I much prefer to mix up my outfits with different colours and texture’s, oh and a really good statement boot.

2. What are your wardrobe staples?

Overall, I love a really good pair of black skinny jeans. They look great for a chilled everyday vibe, but are also really versatile and can be dressed up with a pair of heels, for an evening out. I’m also in love with a really good statement boot, because I just love how they add a different dimension to an outfit.

img_280413. What’s the most expensive item in your wardrobe?

When it comes to my wardrobe this has to be one of my handbags, so it’s probably most likely to be my gorgeous Beige DKNY cross body bag. It was a present for my 18th birthday and is not only an item I love to death, it also goes with every single outfit that I wear and is really chic. I’ve written all about this lovely item in My 4 Essential Designer Accessories | A/W 16 post.

4. Most wanted item?

It’s every girl’s dream to own a pair of Louboutin’s, and I’m not any different. I know they’re not known for being the most comfortable pair of high heels, however they’re so iconic and would be a pair of shoes that will be in your shoe collection forever. I would also love to be able to own a Chanel classic flap bag, because again these are so iconic of one of the greatest women in fashion’s history, and are true investment pieces.

5. Favourite Designer?

I’m not a massive fan of buying designer clothes myself, unless they’re super timeless and iconic, however I really love watching the runway shows from Chanel and Alexander McQueen. They’re both such well known designers and I really love the work from these fashion houses.

6. How much do you spend on clothes?

I’m sure this is a question I probably shouldn’t be answering, as my bank account already knows the damage of my clothes, shoes and handbag addiction. However, I would probably say about £100- £150 month, but it depends if I’ve had money given to me for my birthday or other special events, and if I’ve really been lusting after a piece for a while.

7. Where are you favourite places to shop?

I love shopping at Zara, River Island and New Look, but I’ve also really started to love Karen Millen and Ted Baker. Their clothes are designed and made really well, and also fit me like a glove.

8. Favourite Fragrance?

Paco Rabanne Olympia, as it’s not only the only fragrance I’ve ever had more than one bottle of, but it also smells so lovely and feminine. It’s my go-to scent, and it really defines me and my style.

9. What’s your go-to outfit when you don’t know what to wear?

My Go-to outfit has to be a pair of black jeans and a patterned shirt if I’m going out and need to be dressed up. As for the day,  it’s usually a bomber jacket, jeans and converse. Simple but looks great every time.

10. One fashion trend you wish would come back or stay?

I really love how massive the trend of embroidery is at the moment, whether it’s on a jacket, a dress or on a really love pair of boots. However, I think it’s going to be quite a quick in and out trend, that will soon be out of fashion. So, I would really love that trend to stay and be even more incorporated into the current trends and people’s wardrobes. It’s so feminine but also has a very intricate and powerful vibe, when worn in an outfit.

dsc_349711. What’s the most prized possession in your wardrobe?

It has to be my black and gold, A-Line Karen Millen dress. I wore it for my 18th birthday and so it holds so many amazing memories of that night. I love everything about it, from how it looks and all the gorgeous gold sequins around the waist, how timeless it is, and how well it fits. I’ve raved about just how much I love it, in these two posts HERE and HERE.

Don’t forget to enter the competition I’m running with CLC World Travel to win a £25 voucher for the Birmingham Bullring. All the details in how to enter, are in the competition post HERE.

Nude Heels | River Island, Sparkly Dress | Zara, Velvet Choker | Dorothy Perkins, Crop Top | Zara, Tee-Shirt | Zara, Sequin Bag | ASOS, Sparkly Dress | Zara, Knee High Boots | Boohoo, Pointy Boots | New Look, Denim Jacket | Boohoo, Embellished Dress | Pretty Little Thing, Bodycon Dress | Topshop, Sparkly Ball Necklace | Topshop, Sparkly Tee-Shirt Dress | Topshop, Pink Playsuit | Topshop, Body Suit | Topshop, Across Body Bag | Zara

Dressing for the festive season is all about raiding your wardrobe for anything sparkly and maybe even buying a few new sequin pieces or two; and New Years Eve is no exception. It’s all about celebrating the last night of 2016 in style, and there’s no way you’re going to be rocking a simple little black number. It’s the one night of the year you can really let your style go and choose a piece that you will sparkle in all night; and know that even if 2016 hasn’t been the best year for you, at least you looked amazing in the last few hours of it. So, as this New Years Eve is just around the corner, I thought I would share 17 Sparkly Buys, all under £50…

When it comes to some of the biggest style trends for 2016, knee high boots and body suits have to be mentioned. These sparkly black, knitted Knee High boots, from Boohoo, have to be the perfect piece of footwear to rock for new years eve. They look super chic, elongate your legs and also look amazing paired with a shift or tee-shirt style dress. This pair also have a really lovely point on the end of each boot, which is bang on trend for A/W 16 & 17 and also adds a sharp contrast to a feminine look. On the other hand, this sparkly body suit, from Topshop, would be a great piece to wear if you love a good sequin or two, and want to create a more statement outfit to wear this new years eve. The high neck adds a sense of class, however the plunging slit on the chest keeps it super feminine and sexy. It would look great paired with a more tailored pencil skirt or even jeans, if you’re looking for a more casual look.

A really good dress is a piece I can never fail to love in my wardrobe, and I think new years is no exception. They create an effortlessly chic vibe to your whole outfit and are so easy to throw on and create instant glamour. This one from Pretty Little Thing would be the perfect piece, as it’s not only in a really on trend nude colour, but with pop’s of embellishment it keeps the piece fun and super party appropriate. I’m also really in the love with the long sleeves and the deep slit on the cleavage. However, is bodycon is not your thing and you prefer a piece that’s much more loose and comfortable to wear, then this sparkly blue, ombre shift dress from Zara, would be the perfect choice. The ombre sequin detail makes it a real statement piece and super easy to throw on and pair with some of your favourite neutral heels. The dress really does all the talking and the loose shift style makes it really comfortable to wear, all night long, and will cover a multitude of Christmas sins.

What are you planning to wear this New Years Eve?

Get Ready With Me | Christmas Party

IMG_2888[1]IMG_2895[1]PicMonkey CollageI’m the girl that loves a good party, especially when they’re a festive celebration and Mariah Carey is on the playlist. So, my name is always first on the list when it comes to the work Christmas party or any festive celebration, that involves getting dressed up and buying a piece of clothing to wear. And, this year was no exception, as I headed to a college Christmas party, last week, with two of my beautiful best friends. I really loved the whole getting ready process, especially my outfit, so I thought I would share it all in a Get Ready With Me…

The Outfit: As you all know, I’m a clothes addict and I love any opportunity to be able to purchase a new item to add to my wardrobe. So, when I needed to find a outfit to wear for the college Christmas party, this beautiful red velvet, Karen Millen dress, was the perfect choice. It was a new purchase to add to my collection, and although Karen Millen dresses are quite expensive, the fit is perfect for my body shape and they’re pieces that will last a lifetime. I love everything about this piece, from the way is hugs my body in all the right place’s, flatter’s the fact I have almost no boobs going on, the gorgeous deep red velvet material, which is bang on trend, and how the top gathers to look like a bow. That is why I paired it with my beloved black bow heels, from M&S. I’ve raved about these a lot, but I just want to say how comfortable they are to wear and considering the price, they’re really good quality and look amazing on the feet.

To compliment the red velvet, I paired the dress with some of my favourite rose gold jewellery pieces, such as my lovely Pandora Rose rings and my fossil bracelet. I also wore my rose gold feather bracelet, which was a present from my mum for getting good AS results. It’s a feather for good luck, but also as a memory of my dad, and it’s a piece I will always treasure.

The Hair & Makeup: When it comes to my hair, I just can’t beat a really lovely curled look, which is voluminous and super girly. So, I did my go to hair style, of curling my hair with my lovely GHD’s and then added a bit of volume in the roots by backcombing and adding some dry shampoo. However, when I comes to my makeup I love to go all out and create a really lovely eye makeup look. My absolute life saver is the gorgeous Morphe palette 35T taupe palette, that was an amazing 18th birthday present. It has every shadow colour that I love to wear and more, and is ideal for creating the perfect eye look. In the end I went for a brown/gold smokey eye, topped off with this bronzy gold glitter pigment from Tanya Burr cosmetics and added some fluttery lashes.

To finish my makeup look off, I went for dewy skin with lot’s of bronzer, which has to be my second favourite type of makeup after eyeshadow, and a lovely matte red lip. I used this deep red one from Boujois, which really does create a velvet matte finish, however it is quite sheer and it takes a long time to build up a good strong colour on the lips.

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and go to lot’s of Christmas celebrations.
