A Country House & Somewhere Quintessentially British

Hello Lovelies

What beautiful weather we are having at the moment. It really makes everything in life so much better when you can just throw on some summer clothes and head out somewhere, without having to worry about a coat or Britain’s good old friend, the rain. However, because in Britain we rarely get temperatures of over 25 degrees, us British people don’t actually know what to do with ourselves when it get’s as hot as it has been for the last couple of days. The only way we really know how to cope, is to just head out somewhere in the gorgeous weather, obviously, that’s a bit of a stupid idea as were just going to get hot, bothered and probably sun burnt. But English people are known for being mad!

As it’s the start of the school holiday, most people are heading somewhere sunny and hot for their main summer holiday. However I’m not going on holiday this year for various different reasons, so me and my family decided to head out and enjoy the summer, English style. So on Saturday we headed off to the beautiful region of The Cotswolds. It’s just such a quintessentially British area, that’s full of cute little towns and villages, that truly reflect old style Britain. If your a fan of everything British, then this is definitely an area you need to visit. You can go and have a read of their website HERE.

There’s many different towns and villages that come under the heading of “The Cotswolds”, but we decided to just visit two of the most popular ones: Broadway and Bourton On The Water. Both of these area’s are full of cute, little shops and restaurants that truly reflect stereotypical Britain. I especially love looking in all the little gift shops that they have to offer, because I’m really into interior items at the moment and I love finding shops that I absolutely adore.

So, without further ado, here’s a little photo diary of my adventures on Saturday.

How did you spend your time in the gorgeous weekend weather??

The Best Of We Heart It- June Part 2

The Quotes

Hello Lovelies

This round of The Best Of We Heart It posts are inspired by a few late evening walks, an urge to travel, and a love for nature’s beauty.

This June seemed to bring quite a lot to the 2014 plate. My to-do list seemed to absolutely explode and every single moment of my time was just taken up with things that were kind out of my control. You’d know how I feel if your currently, or have recently been doing your GCSE’s. Also, a lot of the things that I love in life got really neglected and I found myself evaluating a lot of things in my life. I’m not trying to be really depressing, but I want rachelspick to be an open space for me to share my feelings, and hopefully one of you out there will be able to relate to how I feel.

However, June was a great month for me. What I mean my this, is that I feel like I’m finally on the path of finding myself and deciding who I want to be friends with, and what I really want my life to be like. I know it seems like I think way to much about my future, but school kind of forces you to have to think about it and evaluate what you want to do past your GCSE’s.

As June was such a productive and table turning month, I had to have some quotes that I loved and that always inspired me. So here are a few of my favourites.

My Absolute Favourite

According to how June faired for me, I’ve decided on this quote: “In life we do things. Some we wish we had never done. Some we wish we could replay a million times in our heads. But they all make us who we are. And in the end they shape every detail about us. If we were to reverse any of them we wouldn’t be the person we are. So just live. Make mistakes, have wonderful memories, But never ever second guess who you are, where you have been, and most importantly where it is you’re going.”

I just love this quote because of how relatable it is, and just how realistic it is. It’s a quote that so many people will be able to connect to and is something that’s really inspiring to live your life by. It makes everything that happens in life alright, and I just adore it!

The Best Of We Heart It- June

The Pictures

Hello Lovelies

This round of The Best Of We Heart It posts are inspired by a few late evening walks, an urge to travel, and a love for nature’s beauty.

Last month, I really enjoyed being able to go on evening walks with my dog and just being able to feel the sun in my eyes and the breeze in my hair. These moments always make think about how great life is. I always find myself thinking and making a lot of life decisions while I’m on those walks. For me, it’s so important to have something in life that makes you evaluate what’s going on and really gives you that spurge to carry on.

Another thing that I really enjoyed about June was the weather and time. I know that sounds really weird, but life seems to go by so fast that sometimes you never even get a moment to step back and just take everything in. Also, I loved being able to spend a bit of quality time with my family, and just get away from everything else that seems to stress me out in life. At these times I always thought about a quote that I saw recently on Pinterest: “Be gentle with yourself, your doing the best you can”. You can go and have a read of my Quotes board HERE.

What did the month of June bring for you?

To help me get away from all the deep thinking that I was doing throughout the month of June, I spent quite a lot of time, on my good old friend, We Heart It. I probably spent a bit too much time hearting cute, little pictures and quotes that I saw, but I have to make these monthly posts worthwhile for all of you that are reading them.

So, without further ado, here’s my favourite cute, little inspiring pictures that I’ve hearted throughout the month of June:

My Absolute Favourite

I think my favourite of all of this months pictures, has to be the first picture of the retro bike. I love how it has that real feeling of just being on holiday in Italy and roaming around the streets, just sightseeing. Also, it gives of that feeling of romance with the just married sign at the back of the bike. I just love it!

I hope you’ve enjoyed a little bit of a different take to this month’s round of We Heart It posts, but I don’t want to make it really repetitive. Also, I want to quickly apologise for being a hit distant on here lately, I’ve had a lot on my plate and I need to get back into the whole writing a blog post situation.

Summerhouse Dreams…

Pictures Sourced from Pinterest and Google Images

Having a summer house has always been a dream of mine. I’ve always admired the cute, little wooden frames that sit at the bottom of people’s gardens. I don’t really know where my whole love for summerhouses really came from, other than the fact that around 7 to 8 years ago, my dad said to a very much younger me, that one day I would be able to have one of my own . At the time, that one day, seemed like such a long way away, and I never imagined that I’d be writing a post on my own blog, about my love for summerhouses, so many years on.

Back then, having a summerhouse meant something completely different to me, to what it does now. When I was younger I dreamed of having little tea parties with my dollies and one day making it big as a fashion designer. Obviously, some of those dreams are still kind of relevant, but I can confidently say that I now don’t play with dollies, but I still dream of making it big in Fashion somehow.

Now, having a summerhouse means that I can have my own little space to be really creative. A place where I can store all my fashion books and to sit when I’m writing my blog posts. Now, a summerhouse means a place to get away from everything and just to be able to escape to somewhere that I love.

What’s your little dream??

The Best Of We Heart It- May Part 2

The Quotes

Hello Lovelies

I wonder what defines a quote. Who actually says these things, that so many of us know and live our lives by, and how exactly does it end up catching on and being something that so many people say. It just seems like such a hidden mystery! It’s not like when me or you say something, that someone decides that it’s so good that it should be known by millions of people worldwide.

Quotes seem like such simple things, because at the end of the day, it’s only what someone, somewhere has said. But actually they’re quite complicated. Who actually thinks up of the weird and cryptic sayings that we have, such as “touch wood”, “Bob’s your Uncle” and “Mad as a box of frogs”.  I suppose these just show how weird English people are, but I’m sure that other countries have sayings that are really odd too.

The whole secret story behind quotes, kind of makes me like them more. It makes me wonder who actually said this quote and what was happening in their lives at that time. Also, did this quote help them get through a hard time, and is it a quote that someone else has used for positive encouragement. I know it seems like I’m over thinking things and looking too far into things, but it’s just what questions come up in my mind when I’m on websites like We Heart It, and I’m seeing thousands of different quotes. How do they not run out of little, witty sayings to post?

So, when your looking and reading through my favourite quotes from we heart throughout may, just think about the questions that they raise in your head, and how they make you feel. Is it a positive or a negative feeling? Does it make you feel uncomfortable or is it really relatable?

(P.S- Sorry for being so deep!)

My Absolute Favourite

I think it has to be: “Life is like riding a bicycle, in order to keep your balance, you have to keep moving”.  I like this because it’s so easy to just lock yourself away when bad things happen and not want to do anything. But if you do that, then life is never going to get better, and in the end you’ll end up worse. Also, I feel like this is so relatable to so many people’s lives at the minute, and I think that we all need to have a little bit of encouragement to stay positive and be happy, when life isn’t that great!

I hope you enjoyed a little bit of a different take to this months The Best Of We Heart It posts, I always find it hard to not just be repeating myself, but to actually write something new that people want to read.

What’s your favourite quote at the moment??
