9 Date Ideas To Do As A Couple Or With Girlfriends

Going out on date with Ed is one of my favourite ways to spend a day. Whether it’s going out for a coffee, shopping or heading to do an activity for the day, it’s a great way to spend time together and just catch up on everything that has been going on. I also love going on girly dates too with my friends, as its such a good way to have a good gossip and have some girl time. So, I thought I would share 10 date ideas with you, that you can either do with your girlfriends or someone you love this spring…

1.Going for Coffee

This is one of my favourite things to do because I love a good cake and coffee, or a hot chocolate if I’m feeling like I need a bit more sugar in my life. It’s the perfect way to just have a quick meet up, and catch up in a really relaxed and chilled environment. My favourite places to go is local cafe’s,  that are independent and have some amazing cakes and food.

2. Having a Film and Takeaway Night

This is one of my favourite at home dates, that are perfect after a long day at work or after uni. I love ordering a Chinese takeaway, having a real pig out on food and watching a really good film. They are the best with a group of friends, and me and ed usually have a big group date at one of our houses, at least once a month.

3. Go to a Trampoline Park

I love going on active dates with Ed as these are such great ways to bond and create amazing memories. The trampoline park is one of our favourite ones places to go, as we can go and exercise, have fun and challenge each other on the trampolines, in the foam pits and on the balance beams.

4. Go for a Walk

We actually went for a walk in our local country park as our first date, and we love to do it now as it brings back a lot of good memories. Its the perfect way to just have a catch up and spend some time away from our phones and the internet, however you do need good weather for this one, which we don’t get that often in the UK.

5. Go on a Shopping Spree

I love doing this with my girlfriends as its a great way to buy some new pieces for my wardrobe, have a look at what’s in the shops , and also just have a good gossip. You get to plan outfits together, show each other what you’re loving at the moment and your favourite places to shop. However, I also love doing this with Ed and styling him up, getting him to try on new pieces and creating outfits for him.

6. Go to a Theme Park or a Water Park

This is something that I still haven’t done with my girlfriends or Ed, but something I can’t wait to do. It will be such an amazing day out of just having fun and making memories and something we’re hopefully going to do for either one of our birthdays or just as a summer activity.

7. Go for a Weekend Away

This is a bit of a cheat because it’s not just a date but a whole weekend full of one, but it’s a great way to spend some time alone, make memories and visit a new place. When a went to a festival with tow of my bestfriends it was such an amazing experience and so much fun. But also going on one with Ed allowed us to spend time alone together and just chill out and relax without the pressure of work, uni or just life in general.

8. Go Out For Dinner

Going out for food is one of my favourite things to do for a special occasion or after a day out. It’s so nice to just sit at a table, have a catch up and choose some food you wouldn’t have on an everyday basis. I really love going out with all my family to celebrate a birthday, as you get to see everyone and find out what they’ve been doing lately.

9. Have an at Home Dinner date

We have these quite a lot, as there’s no stress of finding a place to eat, not being able to drink or getting home, so it’s so much easier. Usually Ed cooks the food as he’s a lot better chef than I am, but to make it easier we usually go for Dine In 2 for 10.00 from M&S. There’s usually such a good choice of food, it tastes amazing and is also super easy to cook.

Who’s your favourite person to go on a day date with?

Instagram Diary | Autumn 2016

Hello Lovelies

Due to my blog, I’m constantly on social media and use lots of different varieties. However, lately I’ve been really loving Instagram and being able to visually document my life; from those everyday joys, to those special big adventures. It just seems like a really great social platform, for me at the minute, and I really enjoying sharing my blog content and also just having a chat in the comments. So, as there’s been a lot of really big things going on in my life lately, I thought I would do a small big instagram diary for you; explaining what’s behind some of my latest pictures…

This collection of photos are the latest ones straight from my Instagram feed, where you can go and follow me @rachelydia; starting from today and working back to the middle of October. The post right at the top on the left, is a quote I found today, whilst quickly skimming through Pinterest, another addiction of mine. It says: “I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happiest girls are the prettiest girls. I believe tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles” It just seemed so relatable and really accurate to my view on life. Good old Audrey Hepburn!

The picture directly below that probably has to one of my most favourite pictures, I’ve ever posted on my Instagram. It just documents such an everyday, simple afternoon of going for coffee, and yet is such a beautiful photo. I love the marble table, how yummy the cakes look, and I’m still thinking about how amazing that salted caramel hot chocolate was! It was a Café Nero Christmas special by the way. As the last four photos are all from my wonderful trip to New York, and wow was it amazing. We jam packed five amazing days in the Big Apple, going up the Empire State, going to the top of the RockaFella Centre, visting Times Square, eating some lovely traditional American waffles and shopping in the one and only Macy’s. Literally the biggest department store I’ve ever set my eyes on. (You can read all about my trip, in a post I’ve written HERE.)

These second group of photos are continuing on from the previous ones and are from my wonderful trip to New York, in the middle of October, to right at the beginning of the month, when it was my 18th birthday.

Right at the top on the left really documents one of the most breath taking memories of New York, for me. It was taken when we went up to the top of the Rockafella centre, on the first night, and we were able to see the whole of New York light up. No pictures could describe how amazing the view was and it felt so surreal that I was there and able to experience it all, as a present for my birthday. I’m so grateful to my mum, and all the rest of the lovely women, I went with. Then, if you look to the opposite side, on the top right, this is a picture of my first EVER proper legal drink that I bought myself. It was a lovely passion fruit cocktail, from Turtle bay, and I think is going to become a strong favourite of mine, in the years to come.

The rest of the photo’s all document the day and the amazing memories I have, of celebrating my 18th birthday. At the bottom on the right shows a lovely bunch of gorgeous flowers, that all my family bought me, as an early birthday eve present. They were so pretty and such a great way to start my birthday. Then, the next picture along from that shows some of the decorations that my mum put up, in my gold and black colour theme of course, to celebrate my big birthday. We started the day by going for breakfast at a lovely local café, and this was when I found about my amazing trip to New York; this memory is documented in the bottom left picture. All the pictures in the middle are from my party. I had such a great night, celebrating with all my friends and literally dancing nearly all night. I’ve written all about it in a post, which you can go and have a read of HERE.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this style of post, and don’t forget to go and follow me on Instagram @rachelydia.

5 Things I’m Looking Forward To In 2016

Hello Lovelies

In January it’s seems to have become a bit of tradition for bloggers and youtubers to share with their audience all about the New Year. Whether that’s sharing life lessons that they have learnt throughout the year, traditional new year’s resolutions or quotes to live the new year by. However after seeing Anna, from the YouTube channel Vivianna Does Makeup, share 10 things that she was looking forward to in 2016, I thought I would shake it up a bit and also share with you some of the things I’m looking forward to in the new year.

Personally, I find that January can be quite an un-motivating and depressing month, due to the fact that all the exciting Christmas events and parties are over, and everyone is just counting down the days until they receive their next pay cheque. So in order to make this month a little bit easier to handle, I thought it would be a good idea to look over the upcoming year and share with you some of the things that I’m most excited about.

1. Driving lessons and getting a car

Even though I turned 17 all the way back in October, due to my yearly dance show commitments and my mock exams I decided that I would post-pone my driving lessons until the new year. So obviously once 2016 came around the corner I finally started my driving lessons and had my first one earlier in the week. I was slightly unsure about how I would be driving, before I had my lesson, however all those worries soon went away and I absolutely loved every second of my first lesson. Without a doubt I now definitely have the driving bug and can’t wait for my next lesson and to ultimately pass my test and get a car.

2. Lot’s of concerts and shows

For me 2016 brings the opportunity to create lot’s of new memories, and this comes in the form of lot’s of concerts and shows. Over 2015 me and my mum slowly gained lot’s of different tickets to go and see some shows and concerts, due to my Mum’s birthday and a few shows we have wanted to go and see ourselves. So this year I’m really excited to go and watch Peter Andre perform, watch an adaptation performance of The Great Gatsby, and going to see Sister Act at out local theatre. Life is all about creating memories that we will treasure for ever.

3. Spending more time with friends and family

2015 showed me just how much I appreciate my friends and family, and how much they truly mean to me. When I’m feeling down and a bit stressed, nothing can beat spending time with your nearest and dearest. They love you unconditionally, know your really well, and ultimately help you to clear your head and face your life in a new way. As friends help you to have a really good laugh, act as your counsellor and help you have a really good rant.

4. Writing rachelspick

In 2016 I want to spend even more time writing this blog and really enjoying creating new and exciting content for you all to read. I love how I’m able to share my passion with you all through my little space on the internet, and get to talk about my life, share the latest trends and clothing, add in a bit of beauty and experiment with the internet and look of my blog. Writing a blog is so surreal, the amount of readership I receive and the brands which contact me; however it’s such an amazing experience and I know it will help me so much in my future career.

5. Turning 18 and becoming an adult

2016 brings the final year in which I will be counted legally as a child. As I’m now 17 and will be 18 in October, I don’t actually have that long until I’m going to become an adult and start to look after myself. It’s scary to think that my mum will no longer be responsible for me and I will really have to start making my own decisions and booking my own appointments, something I hate as I don’t like talking on the phone. This big birthday will bring an amazing celebration with my friends and family, as the youngest in the family is becoming an adult, and will also be opening a new chapter in my life.

What things are you excited about for the new year? Is it spending time with friends/family, a holiday to a new place, going to see an event or show, or a big birthday?

I love you all

Day 10: What does Christmas Mean To Me?

Christmas 2014

Hello Lovelies

Do you know that I have not posted for the whole of December so far? Well, not any more, because starting today, I am going to be kicking off the 10 day countdown to Christmas, by posting something festive each day right up to Christmas Eve, and maybe even a cheeky post on Christmas day, you never know. It just seemed to be a great way to still be able to join in with all the festive, Christmassy things on here, without having to wait until all the Christmas period is over and start a fresh, clean slate in the new year.

So, to kick off the 10 day countdown slightly more lightly, I have decided to go a bit talky and deep with you all, and discuss what Christmas mean’s to me!

Christmas is like no other British holiday. It’s the one time of the year when nearly everyone in the whole of the country isn’t having to work or go to school, but they are just able to spend quality time with all the people that really mean the most. It’s a time when families and friends come together to celebrate an amazing holiday, with plenty of food, presents, and in my families case, lot’s of games.

The meaning of Christmas for me has definitely changed over the years, obviously when you are little you only think about what presents Santa has brought you and left under the tree, and what new toys you are going to have to play with that day. But as I have gotten older, Christmas seems to have so much more value and worth than it has ever done before; because now I really enjoy going out and buying presents for my friends and ultimately my mum and dad, they have spoilt me so much over the years, and I would like to give them something back. And, also just the whole atmosphere of Christmas, and how shops play Christmas songs to accompany your massive Christmas shopping list, and all the sparkly lights as you drive from village to village. Christmas just seems to be so much more than the presents now, and they are just the nice added extra’s to make the day even better.

As I mentioned earlier, playing games on Christmas day is a massive tradition in our family. It’s the one time of the year when we are allowed to play a game of Monopoly for hours on end, and get away with sticking post-it notes on our heads with different pop stars and animals on. The whole main reason for this, is just because it’s Christmas. There’s no time limits or work the next day, it’s the time to really let your hair down, eat lots of food and for me, spend time with my all my family, especially my cousin who I don’t see as often as I would like to. We all have such busy lives, and have our own careers, hobbies and lives to be getting on with, so it’s so nice when we can all just be together and forgot about all of those things, and just have a great time.

There’s so many other things that I look forward to at Christmas, such as: on Christmas eve my mum always likes to go to the carol service at our local church, and we sing our hearts out to all the best Christmas classics, and then we always have my mum and dads best friends over afterwards, and enjoy plenty of food, open our presents early, and watch any Christmas specials that are on that night. I know it may only seem like a few small things to do, but I just love doing them, and it really resembles the start of Christmas for me.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about all the wonderful, little things that I love about Christmas with my family, and feel inspired to think about what Christmas really means to you.

Love you all

The Best Of We Heart It- January Part 2

The Quotes

Hello Lovelies

Welcome to part 2 of this month’s ” The Best Of We Heart It”.

Although this style post only had it’s preview to you all last night, it’s already been so popular. I can’t honestly believe it. It’s always really hard when I write a new post, because I never know how popular it’s actually going to be, and sometimes I spend a lot of time and effort producing a post and then it’s not that successful,  so I can’t express to you how happy I am that yesterday’s post was as successful as it was and that you all enjoyed it. It honestly really motivates me to carry on writing each month, knowing that when I press that publish button, you’re all going to love it.

As I mentioned in my previous post, this month’s post has been split into two parts, the quotes and the pictures. This is just because I had so many things that I had hearted to choose from, that I simply couldn’t fit them all into one post, or you would all have brain over-load, trust me. So yesterday I focused on the picture side, you can go and see that HERE, and today I will be focusing on the quote side, because as know I’m a bit of a quote freak.

Quotes on We Heart It are probably my favourite quotes out of all the places I see them, such as pinterest, twitter, Facebook and blogs. They always seem to have some really inspiring quotes, that always have nice fonts and backgrounds, because let’s face it, we all like a quote that’s good and looks pretty. So in honour of this, I’ve chosen my favourite quotes from We Heart It through-out January so far to share with you all:

My Absolute Favourite

Is the picture, right at the bottom on the far right of two girls and it says “Best friend forever”. For me this is just so true. I truly think every girl needs one really good best friend that they can experience every emotion with, enjoy the good and bad times and someone to be there for them and listen to them. Friends are one of the most precious things in life and my best friend is everything to me, I won’t mention her name but she knows who she is.

I hope you love the second part of this post as much as the first and feel really inspired by some of these quotes.

Love you all
