March is the first month that we start to see peaks of spring and summer start to come out, and it always gets me excited for the warmer months ahead. By this time I’m starting to get bored of winter fashion, wearing jumpers and boots all the time and having to always think about a coat. I just want to be able to wear jeans and sandal’s, throw on a dress and a jacket and just head out for the day, without the worry of the cold weather. So, to start getting your spring/summer style juices flowing, I thought I would share 4 pre-summer trends, which you can start to incorporate into your style now and also through the summer months.

RUFFLES: These were a massive trend last spring/ summer and they are having another big comeback. They work best when you keep them simple, on the trims of tops or dresses and look gorgeous on sleeves. They look so feminine and really add a fresh, spring like vibe to your outfit.

LACE: Every spring/summer lace seems to be in trend in some way, however this year it’s all about doing it head to toe. So, whether that’s wearing a fully lace dress or two lace separate’s, to create the all lace illusion. However, you have to really careful and pick your colours and style’s carefully. So think about pairing light neutral shades together, but focus the darker shade on the bottom half, such as a white lace top but a blush pink shirt. Again this looks so youthful and fresh and something I love to incorporate into my summer wardrobe.

EMBROIDERY OVERLAY: Embroidery has come back to clothing with a bang, and this year it’s all about over lays. So, wearing a black vest top with a sheer, embroided lace top over it, or an overlay of embroidery as a feature on a dress, top or a skirt. It looks lovely in so many shades and is available in multiple styles, you just need to find the one that’s right for you!

CUT OUTS: Lace year it was just starting to come through with the cold shoulder top trend, however now it’s all over the body, with cut outs on the arms, neck, waist and stomach. However, you need to play it carefully and make sure you pick an item that still looks classy and chic. You want to look on trend and also up market, not on trend and slightly trashy.

What trends can you not wait for this Spring/Summer?

3 Ways To Find Your Summer Style Inspiration

Untitled design (9)

I’m always on a mission to get that perfect chic summer Parisian look, which looks super effortless no matter what the temperature, country or occasion. It’s a look that I love to admire and which I’m really trying to build my capsule summer wardrobe into. During the rest of the year, I love to have multiple pieces I can wear for all seasons and weather’s, but with summer I like to really choose my key go-to items that all work well together and can create some gorgeous looks. However, I personally find a chic and classic summer wardrobe pretty hard to nail and not let the heat and convenience of shorts and a tee become my staple wardrobe. So, I’m sharing 3 ways that I’m loving, to gain inspiration for my summer style…

1. Get On Pinterest– As you all know I’m a massive fan of Pinterest and I can’t get enough of scrolling through all the beautiful images and quotes they have. However, what I love even more is the amount of gorgeous style inspiration. So, I love to make a fashion and style inspiration mood board, get scrolling and pin some of my favourite images on there. Then, you can come back to it later, when you’re stuck for outfit inspiration or packing for a holiday.

2. Spend Time In Your Wardrobe– This may sound a bit ridiculous, but honestly one of the best ways to feel inspired by your summer style is to know exactly what items you have. Start by clearing out all your colder, winter pieces and then focus on all the beautiful summer pieces you have. This way you can start to see what colour palette’s you’ve got going on and plan what items you can wear with what.

3. Be Nosy- One of my favourite things to do is people watch and so mix this with a way of gaining some good style inspiration, and I’m hooked. I’m talking just observing what other women’s outfits, what colours, styles or patterns they’ve styled with what, or even how the mannequins have been dressed in shop windows.

With style it’s all about being inspired and having the intrigue to want to play around with your wardrobe and create some gorgeous outfit combinations.

Spring Wishlist | White High Low Dress, Designer Bags and Embroidery

Lulu Guiness Rucksack | £375, Blue Vanilla Jacket | £60, Zaful Embroided Tunic | $27.99, Zaful Cut Out Pointed Stiletto’s | $35.99, Ted Baker Red Bag | £160 , Topshop Embroided Jeans | £59

As it’s starting to get warmer in the UK, I’m really enjoying dressing for the spring season and purchasing some new items to add to my wardrobe. So, I’m working with the beauties at Zaful to show you some of the pieces I’m currently lusting after; such as this embroided white high low dress or dress formal dresses, which would be perfect for an upcoming summer party or a prom.

This season I just can’t get enough of embroidery. It’s just so feminine and also adds a nice amount of detail to a usually plain pair of jeans or a jacket. I particularly love the traditional red and green floral embroidery, on these Topshop Jamie Jeans because it adds something extra to the denim and makes them more of a special and seasonal appropriate pair to wear. The embroidery is also not too in your face, and doesn’t take away from how well-fitting the jeans are. So many pairs similar to this, are always boyfriend or mom style, and even though they are a nice addition to your wardrobe, I honestly don’t think you can beat a really good pair of skinny jeans.

If you’ve been a reader for a long time, then you will know that I have a real love and border line addiction for handbags. I especially love the British brand Lulu Guiness because of just how feminine all of her iconic bags are and particularly the traditional lips design. However, recently this gorgeous black leather backpack with a gold lips clasp, has caught my eye and I can’t stop thinking about it since. I just think that backpacks are so useful for summer and this one would just add a bit more style and glamour to the whole idea. But, it’s super expensive and definitely a piece that I will have to save up for or buy when it’s on sale.

Shoes are also quickly becoming another love of mine, and I’m really into more pointy stilettos styles at the minute. I bought a nude pair back in March, for one of my best friends wedding and I’ve just fallen in love with how elegant they make you look. They really elongate your legs and add a bit of a stronger contrast to an otherwise very feminine outfit. So, this gorgeous cut out tan pair from Zaful, caught my eye straight away. I love how well these will work with this seasons embroidery and lace, but also work perfectly with for both a casual day look or a dressy evening vibe. They would be so versatile and be a pair in my collection that I would wear over and over again. I definitely need to pick these beauties up.

My Top 5 | Spring Wardrobe Essentials

A Summer Jacket

A summer jacket is an absolute essential for me when it comes to styling up outfits for Spring, as it can still be quite cold and I really need another layer to keep me warm. So, this is why I just can’t live without this grey suede biker jacket from New Look, because it’s so super versatile and can be worn with any outfit, whether that’s a spring dress, jeans or even a playsuit. I had a jacket identical to this, but only in a lighter colour, last spring/summer, but I lost it and I had to purchase a new one; as I was so lost when trying to pair outfits together and I was always wishing that it was still in my wardrobe. So, I knew that this new purchase would instantly be a staple in my wardrobe, and I’m also loving faux suede at the minute and the fact of how good the cropped biker style looks, with any items that highlight my waist.

Lighter Washed Jeans

I know this pair in particular aren’t exactly light washed, however they’re definitely a summer jean and look perfect paired with gorgeous, floaty tops and tan sandals. I wouldn’t usually wear a pair of jeans this blue, during the winter months, however they really bring much needed colour to my spring outfits and this pair also fit amazingly. I’m forever on the hunt for the perfect jean, because I like a really skinny fit and I’m tall; so finding a jean that’s not too short and fits well right from the waist to the ankle, is very difficult. However, these are a very recent purchase from M&S, would you believe it, and I’m so happy with them. They look great on and were also a bargain at £19.50 a pair; miles better than all the other high-street jeans I’ve tried on.

A Pair of Converse

Converse are the perfect spring/summer shoe, as they’re made for events such as festivals, picnic’s and long adventure’s. They are so comfortable and are such a classic shoe, which you can wear from day to night with any outfit, for any occasion. They’re super versatile and I love to have at least one pair to get me through the summer. So, this year I’ve gone for this gorgeous tan leather pair with rose gold eyelets. I’ve already raved about these beauties a lot in their own blog post, so I will link it HERE and you can go and have a good read.

An Embroided TopIMG_2999[1]

This season I honestly cant get enough of embroidery, and so it’s no wonder than an embroided top is an essential item for my spring wardrobe. There is something so feminine and girly about embroidery, and that’s why I’m loving to wear it as we go into spring and I’m wearing more light and floaty items. With this top in particular, which is a little River Island number by the way, I really love how all the details are in red, which makes it stand out and also looks great with a red lip. The wide bell style sleeves also look surprisingly flattering and perfectly compliment the peplum at the bottom. This is my favourite spring piece from my wardrobe, and I cant get enough of how beautiful it is.

The Lace Dress

This white dress is a real staple in my spring/summer wardrobe, as it’s so light, cool to wear and also looks amazing with a tan. I love how it has a real festival and bohemian vibe, and it looks perfect paired with a plaited hair style and tan accessories. The lace really just adds detail to both the piece and compliments your outfit really well; making it super girly and feminine. It’s just the ideal throw on and go piece, and I could wear this endlessly during spring and summer. I’m so glad it’s now getting warm enough to wear it.

5 Style Trends For 2017

Untitled design (2)

In the words of Tom Ford “Dressing well is a form of good manners” and so it’s only polite to be super stylish and own your personal style. Whether you’re more of a Chanel, and love sharp, clean lines with a monochrome colour palette, or McQueen is more your vibe; with lot’s of colour, texture and all things over the top. There’s a trend to suit every taste this year…

Embroidery

This is one of my favourite trends for 2017, and has had a real comeback over the last 6 months. It’s so feminine but with a real uniqueness, as every single piece of embroidery is slightly different and has an almost story behind it. I love how it has a real sense of female empowerment and adds such a statement vibe to any piece.

Post- Minimalism

Simple, chic and sophisticated is being taken to the next level, as a classic garment with an added something, creates intrigue to an outfit. Think Chanel, mixed with muted monochrome and nude’s, to create a really timeless vibe. This trend uses colour shades, texture’s and shape to add interest, opposed to pattern or colour contrast.

Sheer

Wearing a garment that is sheer is no longer just for those evenings out, and is now being brought into your everyday style. Whether it’s a sheer skirt, shirt or even a bomber jacket, this translucent polyester adds an extra dimension and glamour to any outfit. The best way to rock sheer in the daytime is to pair it with contrasting items; a tee-shirt and sheer skirt, or jeans and a sheer bomber jacket.

Super Bright’s

In contrast to all the other trends, with super brights there is no where to hide as you rock some of the boldest colour’s possible in your outfit. It’s all about the bright blue’s, strong red’s and even yellows and green’s; mixed with a range of different pattern’s and texture’s. This trend is all about being bold and creating a statement in whatever your wear.

Head to Toe Florals

Some form of florals is always in fashion, from season to season, however for 2017 it’s all about rocking the entire pattern from head to toe. There’s no hiding as florals is your best friend in this super feminine and statement trend. The best way to rock this is by wearing a one or two piece set, such as a jumpsuit or a floral suit.
