Dressing for the festive season is all about raiding your wardrobe for anything sparkly and maybe even buying a few new sequin pieces or two; and New Years Eve is no exception. It’s all about celebrating the last night of 2016 in style, and there’s no way you’re going to be rocking a simple little black number. It’s the one night of the year you can really let your style go and choose a piece that you will sparkle in all night; and know that even if 2016 hasn’t been the best year for you, at least you looked amazing in the last few hours of it. So, as this New Years Eve is just around the corner, I thought I would share 17 Sparkly Buys, all under £50…

When it comes to some of the biggest style trends for 2016, knee high boots and body suits have to be mentioned. These sparkly black, knitted Knee High boots, from Boohoo, have to be the perfect piece of footwear to rock for new years eve. They look super chic, elongate your legs and also look amazing paired with a shift or tee-shirt style dress. This pair also have a really lovely point on the end of each boot, which is bang on trend for A/W 16 & 17 and also adds a sharp contrast to a feminine look. On the other hand, this sparkly body suit, from Topshop, would be a great piece to wear if you love a good sequin or two, and want to create a more statement outfit to wear this new years eve. The high neck adds a sense of class, however the plunging slit on the chest keeps it super feminine and sexy. It would look great paired with a more tailored pencil skirt or even jeans, if you’re looking for a more casual look.

A really good dress is a piece I can never fail to love in my wardrobe, and I think new years is no exception. They create an effortlessly chic vibe to your whole outfit and are so easy to throw on and create instant glamour. This one from Pretty Little Thing would be the perfect piece, as it’s not only in a really on trend nude colour, but with pop’s of embellishment it keeps the piece fun and super party appropriate. I’m also really in the love with the long sleeves and the deep slit on the cleavage. However, is bodycon is not your thing and you prefer a piece that’s much more loose and comfortable to wear, then this sparkly blue, ombre shift dress from Zara, would be the perfect choice. The ombre sequin detail makes it a real statement piece and super easy to throw on and pair with some of your favourite neutral heels. The dress really does all the talking and the loose shift style makes it really comfortable to wear, all night long, and will cover a multitude of Christmas sins.

What are you planning to wear this New Years Eve?

7 Things I’m Looking Forward To This Christmas Season

Untitled design (3)Christmas is has to one of my favourite events in the year, just because everyone comes together to celebrate the season and spend time with the ones we love the most. It’s the only time in the year when everyone just stops and takes the time to enjoy the festive season, and everything that comes along with it. So, I’m going to share 10 things I’m really looking forward to this Christmas time…

  1. The Food– I don’t think there’s anyone that can deny that they’re not looking forward to the food this Christmas season. I can’t wait to stuff my face in all things turkey, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes and also a good old piece of chocolate Yule log. Generally, I don’t really love heavy food, however when it comes to Christmas I can’t get enough of it and for me, it’s one of the things that really defines Christmas.
  2. Relaxing– This Christmas brings the last school Christmas holiday’s I will ever have, and so I really want to enjoy it and ultimately relax. Catch up on sleep, as I’ve had so many late nights recently, binge watch Christmas specials and films, as you can’t do Christmas without a good TV night; and finish all my shopping and wrapping of Christmas gifts.
  3. Spending time with family- I’m a real family lover. They mean the world to me and I don’t know what I would do without them all by my side. So, to be able to spend a whole day with my family, just celebrating and catching up, is something I can’t wait for. For everyone to just be able to chill out, not worry about work or college the next day and just all catch up, really can’t be beaten.
  4. Playing Games- Christmas is the one time of the year, except from holidays, that we all have time and are willing to play loads of games. As there’s quite a few of us, when we get together we love to forget about the TV and play a few good old fashioned board games. Monopoly, Scrable and Pictionary have to be some of our favourite’s. Although, Monopoly has to my ultimate favourite game to play.
  5. Snow- Now this is one that I’m really hoping will happen this Christmas time, as I can’t ever really remember having a proper white Christmas in the UK. We don’t really get a good amount of snow and when we do, it very quickly turns into sludge. So, I really wish that we can have snow this Christmas. It would be perfect if we did, and I really don’t think you can beat it, during the festive season.
  6. Present Giving– This is the second year I’ve been able to buy all my Christmas presents myself, and so I can’t wait to be able to give out all my presents this festive season. To be able to see all my loved ones open a present, I hope that they will love, is the most amazing thing and something I enjoy even more than receiving presents.
  7. Christmas Eve– Christmas eve is my favourite day of the whole festive season. I love it maybe even a little bit more than the actual day itself! The whole routine I have, of starting the Christmas celebrations at work and spread the Christmas cheer, going to the church carol service and then spending time with my godmother and her husband. It’s like a real countdown to Christmas for me, and I can’t wait for the real festivities to start.

The Christmas Gift Guide | For Her

christmas-gift-guide

One of my favourite parts of Christmas has to be buying presents, for some of the lovely people in my life. I love being able to spend time really picking the perfect present, that I know my friend or family member are going to love. But, there’s always those women in your life, in family this is definitely me, who has everything and has a really specific taste; so finding a present that they will adore is just that little bit harder. So, for my second gift guide for Christmas 2016, I’m going to be sharing 9 gorgeous gifts to buy for her…

Untitled design (2)

Beautiful pyjama’s has to one of my favourite things to buy or receive as a gift. I love to be able to feel glamorous even when I’m relaxing at home or going to bed. So, this lovely pair from Autograph, designed by Rosie Huntington-Whitely, would be the perfect present for any fashion lover in your life. They’re made of a luxurious silk, would be really comfortable and cool to wear, and look beautifully chic; with a muted floral cream, pink and green pattern on. The camisole and pants set may be quite expensive for £35.00, however you’re paying for the quality and fit of the whole set. On the other hand, if you’re not quite brave enough to attempt to buy a fashion lover clothes, then a book all about the ultimate fashion bible is a great option. This diary of Alexander Shawman’s 100th year in vogue looks really interesting, and I know will have an amazing insight into how vogue celebrated such a big event. I love reading about fashion, especially something as iconic as vogue, and I’m sure there’s many women out there who would love this book in their stocking.

Makeup is also a really big love of mine, and I know there’s also many other beauty lover’s out there to. However, I don’t always splash out on getting lovely new brushes to apply my makeup with. So, this bold metals collection, from real Techniques, would be a perfect way to treat the woman who loves makeup. These brushes are from the premium collection and are super luxurious, soft and great at applying makeup. This set is quite pricey, however there’s plenty of lovey smaller sets to splash out on this Christmas. or, if you feel it’s more a makeup or toiletry bag that a lovely lady in your life might need, then this gorgeous pug one from Ted Baker would be perfect. I really love all the designs from Ted Baker, and this one is no exception. It’s super cute, wipe able and also great if you spill makeup on it or for travelling.

My Festive Pampering Routine

img_28751img_28761img_28771

One of my favourite ways to relax and just have a bit of me time, is to give myself a good pamper. So, when it comes to the festive season, and there’s lot’s of parties and celebrations; my pamper routine get’s more intense and seasonally inspired. Some of my favourite affordable products to use, which are also really good quality and great for your skin, are from The Bodyshop. I love how the brand is all natural, cruelty free and they create such gorgeous products, that smell and look amazing. They also last ages and there’s such a wide variety on offer, which will suit anyone’s taste’s; when it comes to skincare, body care, hair care and also makeup.

The Face

Looking after my skin is something I’ve grown to really love. I had really problematic skin as a child, I was constantly having spot break outs and my skin was super sensitive. So, this has lead me to really want to look after my skin now, and try to keep it healthy and looking really good. These Aloe Vera cleanser and toner, from the Bodyshop, are great for keeping my skin feeling clean and fresh, ready for the day. The Aloe Vera makes sure that the product is gentle on the skin, and as it’s a natural antibiotic it makes sure any dirt or impurities are drawn out of your skin; keeping it really smooth and a good overall tone.

I’m also a real face mask addict, and I really love trying out new ones and seeing which ones work best for my skin. One of my favourite types have to be self heating, that are actually warm as you put them on your face. They create a really deep cleanse of your skin, in a way which is also really gentle and that actually feels great. It’s just a white mask, so there’s no scary colouring to it, that can make your face look seriously weird. It’s all just completely natural and this one is a really gorgeous seasonal scent, of mineral and ginger. Which I’m loving for this time of year!

The Body

Looking after your body, is just as important as your skin, when it comes to pampering, however I often neglect it and don’t give it the treatment it deserves. We can all vow for not moisturising our bodies enough, and I’m 100% a culprit of not putting in the time, or the effort, to give my body a good moisturise every day. But, this Hawaiian Kukui Cream from The Bodyshop has hopefully changed my ways. I love how it’s really thick and creamy, making it really moisturising for my slightly dry skin, but also dries really quickly and isn’t sticky on the skin. What I really hate is having to wait ages for body cream to dry, and then you feel really over sticky and it’s hard to put clothes over the top. The kukui oil really nourishes your skin, and allows it to be really supple and glowing.

A really good bath bomb, is also something I love to use, in my pamper routine. I’m a massive fan of baths, and how relaxing they are when you’ve had a long and busy day. So, I love to make it a bit more special and also great for my body, by popping in a bath bomb. This love heart shaped one, was a gift from America from my Aunty, and smells lovely, but I also really love LUSH bath bombs. They’re my favourite bath products EVER! I’m also obsessed with using bubble bath, and making bath time a true paradise. So, this gorgeous Argan Oil one from The Bodyshop, is perfect for those festive pampering sessions and when you want your skin to be super nourished and smooth.

The Extra’s

The finishing touches of the whole pamper routine, bring the whole experience together and makes it a great way to recharge your batteries and feel more a bit more you again.

Painting my nails has to be one of my most favourite ways to finish off my pamper routine. I’m obsessed with nail varnish, and I have an absolutely massive collection. So, I love being able to choose one of my favourite colours, from my collection and just spend time on me and making myself feel great. Having good nails also really pulls an outfit together and makes you look so much more chic. I also really enjoy putting some oil on my hair, to really nourish it and give it a treatment after the exposure from the day. Heat and damp can really affect your hair, so I love just popping some of this through the ends of my hair, at night, to almost act like a leave in hair mask. Its also great before you blow-dry your hair and after you curl it; to give your waves more definition.

If you’re looking to buy some gorgeous Bodyshop products, then one of my lovely friends is a consultant. She can run a party evening, or just bring the catalogue round, so you can have a good nosy at some of the brand’s latest products. If you live in Leicestershire, then she’s great and you can go and have a peak at her Facebook page HERE. Thank you to her for letting me try out some of the amazing products, and making me want to buy so many.

The Realities Of A Christmas In Retail

untitled.png

As it’s now my second December in Retail and all the four months leading up to the big day, I thought I would share a few of the realities of having a Christmas in retail. Whether it’s the endless lines of customer’s to serve, the mysteries of the late night shopping hours or the Christmas eve shop floor celebrations; a Christmas in retail is weird, wonderful and nothing ever surprises me…

  1. ‘Did I just tidy that?’- Especially when it’s the countdown to Christmas, tidying becomes a full time job, and one of the two main things you end up getting paid for, along with serving customers. If you’re a perfectionist like me, then having everything nicely folded and looking good is key, but at Christmas that’s just not possible. You can spend ages folding and tidying, for it only to be all forgotten in a matter of seconds, as the pile of jumpers, you’ve just folded,is all in a heap or the fitting room you’ve just tidied, has 50 tags and coat hangers in AGAIN.
  2. ‘Not late night shopping’- That only means one thing, having to work a late shift. Having to watch as you slowly move towards Christmas, more and more late minute shoppers need to find the perfect present, in the last 5 minutes of the shop being open. Or, hitting 7.30 and actually loosing the plot, as you know that you still have a lot of your shift left to go, and can’t stop thinking about what you’re going to have for dinner.
  3. ‘Is this line EVER going to end’- Standing at the till becomes your permanent position, when it comes to the Christmas season, as you’re constantly serving person after person; buying gifts for their loved ones. You think it’s never going to end, and can’t even believe how many times you’ve had to ask ‘Do you need a 5p carrier bag?’.
  4. ‘It’s Christmas Eve!’- This has to be one of the most amazing days to work, during the Christmas period. Everyone is in the full Christmas spirit and can’t wait until they can clock off and start the celebrations. But, where I work the celebrations start as soon as our shift does. It’s all about wearing our Christmas jumpers, maybe exchanging a few presents or cards, and having a bit of a celebration in our stock rooms.
  5. ‘The whole of Christmas is just one day’- When you work in retail you dedicate your whole countdown to Christmas, and the time you usually spend with your family getting ready for the big day, to share the festive spirit through the high-street shops. It’s not always easy to be happy and jolly, as you’ve not had a break for 6 hours and have had a constant queue for the whole time. So, always try to be kind to the retail workers, in your local shops and high-street; they’re doing their best and have given up family time, to open the shops, for all your last minute purchases.
