I wonder what defines a quote. Who actually says these things, that so many of us know and live our lives by, and how exactly does it end up catching on and being something that so many people say. It just seems like such a hidden mystery! It’s not like when me or you say something, that someone decides that it’s so good that it should be known by millions of people worldwide.
Quotes seem like such simple things, because at the end of the day, it’s only what someone, somewhere has said. But actually they’re quite complicated. Who actually thinks up of the weird and cryptic sayings that we have, such as “touch wood”, “Bob’s your Uncle” and “Mad as a box of frogs”. I suppose these just show how weird English people are, but I’m sure that other countries have sayings that are really odd too.
The whole secret story behind quotes, kind of makes me like them more. It makes me wonder who actually said this quote and what was happening in their lives at that time. Also, did this quote help them get through a hard time, and is it a quote that someone else has used for positive encouragement. I know it seems like I’m over thinking things and looking too far into things, but it’s just what questions come up in my mind when I’m on websites like We Heart It, and I’m seeing thousands of different quotes. How do they not run out of little, witty sayings to post?
So, when your looking and reading through my favourite quotes from we heart throughout may, just think about the questions that they raise in your head, and how they make you feel. Is it a positive or a negative feeling? Does it make you feel uncomfortable or is it really relatable?
(P.S- Sorry for being so deep!)
My Absolute Favourite
I think it has to be: “Life is like riding a bicycle, in order to keep your balance, you have to keep moving”. I like this because it’s so easy to just lock yourself away when bad things happen and not want to do anything. But if you do that, then life is never going to get better, and in the end you’ll end up worse. Also, I feel like this is so relatable to so many people’s lives at the minute, and I think that we all need to have a little bit of encouragement to stay positive and be happy, when life isn’t that great!
I hope you enjoyed a little bit of a different take to this months The Best Of We Heart It posts, I always find it hard to not just be repeating myself, but to actually write something new that people want to read.
Welcome back to another little show & tell of my favourite pins from we heart it,throughout the month of may.
If you’ve been reading my blog for a long time, or you’ve only been catching up on my monthly, The Best Of We Heart It posts, then you will know my true love for the place . I just adore it. It’s a website that I seem to have a real addiction to, and somewhere that I love to spend my spare time scanning through all the pictures and really cute quotes.
The reason that we heart seems to appeal so much to me, is because I’m such a visual person! I like everything to be in picture form, I’m just not really into writing, even though I write a blog. However, I see rachelspick as a place to share and be creative, and the whole writing of the posts and the substance definitely comes second. It’s a place where I can share my true passions, and generally just have loads of fun!
So as this blog is all about sharing, here’s my favourite pictures that I’ve “hearted” throughout may, to inspire, and delight you all:
My Absolute Favourite
This again was such a hard decision, because I literally love so many of the picture’s that it was so hard to just to pick one. But in the end, I decided on the picture right at the top on the right hand side. I love the whole French theme that’s going on in it, and just the kind of chic feeling that I get from it. It’s something that’s so me, because at the minute I seem to have such an addiction to French words and anything that has them it. I suppose it’s because I do French GCSE, and now I know what a lot more of the French words mean, so it appeals to me more. If your interested, the saying in the picture means: “A trip to wonderland”.
My love for We Heart It seems to get stronger and stronger as these monthly posts go by. It’s kind of getting a bit of a problem to be honest. I’m not saying that I spend every waking minute on there, but once I’ve clicked onto the website link, I just love it and I suppose it’s bit of a guilty pleasure. So, these posts just kind of encourage me to go on there even more, and it gives me an excuse because I need to have some images and quotes to actually be able to continue doing these monthly posts.
If you’ve been a reader for a long time, then you’ll know that I’m such a quote freak, and that I just love them. I like to have a quote to say in a certain situation, and just some that generally relate to my life situations at that moment in time. They’re just so inspiring and give you hope that someone feels the same way that you do. Which I love. I’m even going to make a little inspiration wall, full of quotes and cute little sayings, just because I love them so much and I think it’s just a great idea.
Because I’m such a great person and love to share my favourite things with you all, I’ve picked out the best quotes on We Heart it, through-out April to share with you all:
The Absolute Favourite
I love the quote “Too Vogue For You”. Obviously, I’m such a fashion lover and it’s just really relatable to me, and actually reminds me of a tee-shirt that I have from River Island. I just love this quote and it’s really me!! It’s the type of quote that you’d say to someone, and what’s funny, is that I can actually imagine someone say it!!
I can’t actually believe that I’m still going strong with this post series and that I’ve not missed one or forgot to do one yet. It’s quite a miracle for me really! But I’m trying to not be so lazy and when I promise something, I’m actually going to do it and follow through with it. So we’ll see how the rest of the year goes, but so far I’m going strong with my first ever monthly post series. You can see the rest of the series HERE.
One of the things I love most about We Heart It, has to be the quality of the pictures and just how sharp they are. I know this may sound really odd, but I hate when you go on Pinterest or Tumblr and the picture is just not good quality. It just kind of takes all the enjoyment out of the whole picture for me and it puts me off. So, I love the fact of how good the pictures on we heart it look and using them on here.
Considering my love for all the pictures on we heart it, I’ve picked out my favourite ones that I’ve “hearted” through-out april for you all:
My Absolute Favourite
I absolutely love the picture of a woman with a sparkler. I just think it’s really positive and the light from the sparkler really represents a dream and hope for doing something, all most like a shooting star. It’s just so inspiring and makes you feel really motivated to have fun while your young, live life to the full and the fact that you only live once. I love it, and how unique it is.
As most of you know, this post is a regular, monthly thing, where I just share my favourite things from We Heart It each month. But because I have a slight addiction to it, I split the the post into two, the pictures and the quotes, because I just spend too much time on there hearting things that I end up with so many things to choose from by the end of the month that I can’t put them all into one post.
Yesterday I posted part one, if you would like to have a quick re-cap before reading the rest of this post then click HERE. You can also read all my posts from previous month’s HERE.
I’ve literally mentioned this so many times on here, but just in case you’re a new reader, it’s that I’m an absolute quote freak. I just love a good quote. Whether that’s a massive paragraph, actually I would probably just remember a certain part that I liked, or just a few sentences, which my brain just seems to process better. I just have this addiction to them and like to spring them up in different situations. It’s probably so annoying but I still do. Although recently this part of me has been in hibernation.
Quotes are just a good invention. They can help you in a situation, lighten the mood or just intrigue you a little bit. But how are you supposed to remember them, when you most need them most. Well, you could set one or a collage of a few as your screensaver on your computer, your lock screen or background on your phone, I-pad or I-pod. You could also get some printed professionally and frame them, or you could create a little quote/inspiration wall, full of your favourite quotes. You could write them on post-it notes, print them off, write them on nice paper or whatever you want.
But before you do that, you need some quotes to start you off:
My Absolute Favourite
I love the first quote from Great Expectations, “It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light and winter in the shade.” I just think this is so accurate and it really describes this time of year. Also I’ve been reading Great Expectations, not for pleasure, but for an English assessment, and it can be quite a cute book. I just love this quote!
