As Valentines Day is now only a week away, I thought I would give you a few ideas for outfits you can wear for the day. Whether you’re going out for drinks, and want something slightly more casual yet still dressy, going out for a really fancy meal or just going for a relaxing day date, I’ve got an outfit idea to suit every occasion.
If you’re off to a lovely posh meal this Valentines day, then a statement dress would be the perfect choice. I always think they ooze femininity, and are so easy to create an outfit around. You can so easily make the dress the statement and then keep it neutral with the accessories, like I’ve done with this gorgeous lazer cut Karen Millen dress. This is one of my favourite items in my wardrobe, because I just love the pop of red. I always think red looks beautiful on women, and I love pairing it with bouncy curls and top it all off with a red lip. I’ve then kept the jewellery and accessories neutral, with a nude bow clutch bag from Coast, and kept the rose gold theme running through into my circular Pandora necklace. Which has small cut out hearts around the edge, which I thought would be perfect for valentines.
However, if you’re looking for a more relaxed day date outfit, then a classic cami and a leather skirt would be the perfect choice. I love matching a really delicate and lacy piece, with a more masculine leather piece, and the two just compliment each other so nicely. But, as it is valentines day, I thought the added pink of the skirt still keeps it girly and perfect for a day date. Whether it’s a picnic, a walk in the park or a day out, this would really work, and then you can take it into the evening with the addition of this pink blazer from L K Bennett and a statement necklace.
Getting dressed up is one of my favourite things to do, and especially when it’s an outfit that I love. You don’t really get the chance to do it every day, as you’re heading to uni or work, so it’s so nice to spend the time to do your hair and makeup and choose a great outfit to live the night in. New Years Eve is always a special occasion for me and means a lot, so this outfit will have some many memories for me from an amazing night with family, friends and my boyfriend.
The main piece of my outfit was this gorgeous blush pink blazer from LKBennett, and was also such a bargain. It was such a great buy from Biscester Outlet village, and was supposed to be orginally around £348, and I got it for only £83. I couldn’t believe the price tag when i first saw it on the rail, and as soon as i tried it on i fell in love with it. Not only is the colour so gorgeous, it also fits like a glove and looks so classic. It looks elegant and chic, but still has a young, feminine twist, which i know will never go out of style. It’s a piece ill be able to keep in my wardrobe for years and something i know I’ll love forever.
So to make the most of this gorgeous piece, I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit fairley simple and put together, to draw the look into one. To do this, I paired the blazer with my favourite black lace cami from new look. I love how chic and femine this looks, and it contrasts the hard tailoring of the blazer perfectly. It’s also so comfortable and such a staple in my wardrobe. I just wish they brought them out again, as i’ve wanted more ever since, and really fancy a grey, mink or blush pink one.
Then, to finish the look off I paired it with a pair of grey, faux leather trousers. They might look a bit weird, but they add so much class to an outfit and a bit of luxury, as it’s not the traditional denim jeans. As well as the trousers, I wanted to add a bit of sparkle to my outfit, and so i added thsi goregous opal necklace, that i bought from a small independant jewellery stall a few years ago. I dont get that much chance to wear it, but it looked perfect with this outfit and the pink of the blazer picked up the pink of the opal perfectly.
A birthday is always an excuse for me to get dressed up and enjoy being a bit more glamourous than I am everyday; and my 19th birthday was no exception. After such an amazing 18th year, I knew I had to go into my 19th with a bit of a bang, no way as big as last years, but a good celebration was in order. So, to make sure the night kicked off in the right way, I made sure I had an outfit on that I loved and felt really good in, as well as pulling it all together with hair and makeup that had a kind of everyday glam vibe. I was so happy the outfit as a whole I thought I would share it in a blog post with you all….
When it comes to going out, I’m a massive fan of having that one key item that you can put on and feel instantly put togther and ready for the evening. Whether that’s a dress playsuit or a jumpsuit, a love a good one hit wonder I suppose; except I love to wear them over and over again and they’re my trusty go-to pieces. So, when it came to choosing an outfit for my birthday drinks in my local city, it was a no brainer that I wanted to pick one of these items from my wardrobe. So, this red, lace dress from AX Paris ended up being the dress of choice for the evening, purely becaause I feel really good when I wear it, it looks good and I could also pair it with a good old red lip.
To finish the look off, I wanted to make the dress the main focus point and so I stuck to a more neutral colour palette. I went for a beautiful pair of patent nude high heels, with a good platform to add a bit of height to the evening. These are far from the most comfortable heels I own, but they look amazing on, and so that balanced out the pain they cause. Then I added my trusty rose gold Pandora rings, and my Armani exchange watch and a black and white clutch to tie it all together. To be honest the bag wasn’t my first choice, but I couldn’t find the bag I really wanted to use so I had to make so with this one.
Hair & Makeup
For my hair and makeup I went for a more everyday glam look, as I wanted to still look natural with a bit more of a dressed up version. So I created a gorgeous brown smoky eye to add a bit of depth to my makeup look and a bit of intensity to the eye, using the Morphe 35T palette. This is actually one of the loves of my life and would really recommend buying it because it`s so versatile, and it also helps that it looks beautiful as well. To complement the eye look I went for bronzed, dewy skin and a good old matte red lip. I wasn’t the most popular with my boyfriend, but it tied the whole look together. When it came to my hair, I went for my trusty loose curls but added lots of extra volume, to the roots, to add bit of extra glam to the whole look. This just brought it all together and made me love my hair for the whole night.
I headed to a few local bars in my local city for drinks and a cocktail or two, with my boyfriend and 6 of my best friends. I had an amazing night chatting, drinking and catching up with them all, especially as three of them are at uni away from home and I don’t get to see them that much. To be honest it was quite a messy night, as I made the mistake of mixing too many drink combinations. However, I was the birthday girl and so I had a good excuse to get drunk.
Festivals are such popular summer events to go and are packed full of wild, wacky and colourful outfits. There’s never a dull moment when you’re rocking the double denim look, mixing florals and stripes or owning that huge floral crown. However, you do also have to think practically when going to a festival, as in reality they are amazing fun but can be super rainy, windy and cold. So, as I’m going to V Festival this year with a group of my friends, I thought I would share some of the practical, yet stylish, buys I’ve picked up so far.
Green Raincoat | Topshop | £25
Not only is this the most practical piece from this mini haul, it’s probably the most sensible clothing item I’ve bought for a long time, usually I’m all about style over practicality. But, I knew this would be a piece I would really need for the festival as it would keep me warm on colder nights, would look good paired with any festival outfit and was also a bargain in the sale at £25. I love how the striped lining adds a bit of fun to the piece and even though it is quite practical, I know it will still look cute and stylish during the weekend.
The Roma Rucksack| MAHI Leather | £94.50
This little beauty was a gorgeous gift from my lovelies over at MAHI leather and will be perfect to house all my festival essentials for the day. I love how it has two zipped pockets at the front, which you can access really easily and how it also has a really spacious main section to the bag as well. It will be great for in the evenings when I want to take out a jacket and also my phone, money and maybe a few drinks or something to eat. They’ve also made it even better by personalising it with my first three initials, RLK; which I just love and makes it so special. All their gorgeous bags are 100% leather and that means that it will wear really well, last a long time and be okay in the unpredictable weather at the festival.
White Embroided Shirt | Zaful | $26.49
This is my favourite piece from this mini haul, because not only do I love a good shirt but I’m also obsessed with embroidery; and this piece ticks both of these boxes. What I like is how well the beauties at Zaful described this item, which meant that I was super impressed when I got this shirt through the post and surprised at the online to real life pay off. It looked exactly the same and even the embroidery looks just as beautiful and intricate as it did on screen. They also come packaged up so beautifully as well and all it needed was a good iron and it was ready to go.
I really cant wait to style up this shirt with a good old pair of denim shorts, maybe even contrast it with a black ripped pair, to add a different feel. It’s such a casual style and cut that it always looks effortlessly chic, and is also super soft against your skin. The embroidery doesn’t irritate you at all and you can even roll up the sleeves to change up the style of it too. I’ve even got my eye on some of the beautiful floral bodycon dresses on their website, which would also be a great festival day outfit.
The only criticism I would make about it would just be the sizing descriptions, from their small, medium, large into British clothing sizes. I got guided an XL would be a UK size 12, however this is a bit big for me and I could of easily got a large if it wasn’t for the fact that the shirt looks great over-sized.
Blush Mac | The Collection at Debenhams £65 , Nude Bow Clutch | Coast £38 , Nude Stiletto’s | New Look £25.99 , White Fascinator | Claire’s £16
Getting dressed up has to be one of my favourite times for fashion, and especially when it’s a really special occasion. There’s nothing like being able to buy a few new gorgeous pieces, in my case accessories and a gorgeous new coat; to wear for that one event you’ve been looking forward to for the whole year. So, as I have a spring wedding to go to, in just under 3 weeks time, for one of my best friends Sasha; I thought I would share some of the lovely new items I’ve purchased, to complete my outfit for the day.
The Coat- Although we all like to dream of those gorgeous hot weddings, in reality I really needed a coat to wear for the day. It’s not always very glamourous to wear a coat, especially not when you’re in all your finery, so I was determined to find a lovely and fashionable coat to complete my outfit.
After at lot of searching and trying on lot’s of different styles and shapes, this lovely blush coloured mac was the chosen one. I love how it’s a really feminine colour, that ties in perfectly with my other accessories and the colours in my dress, as well as it being a classic trench style, which is bang on trend. It’s not too thick for spring, will complement my outfit and make sure I always look fabulous, even when I’m out in the freezing cold, watching the pictures being taken.
The Clutch- Handbag’s are a true love in my life, and my second favourite thing when it comes to dressing and creating an outfit. I honestly think it’s so important to have a good bag; they pull a whole outfit together, make you look chic and feminine and also give you a place to put your phone and necessities or the day. So, it was really important for me to get a bag that was not only beautiful, but that’s also big enough to fit in all the things I need for the wedding; money, phone, lipstick and even a few snacks.
This beautiful clutch from Coast was the one as soon as I spotted it. I love how it has a mix between the faux leather and the faux suede, and that there is also a large bow tied across the front of it. It’s so feminine, but not too fussy and very chic, my style in a nutshell. There’s also a lovely addition of the rose gold clasp, that means this will be my metal of choice for the day; as well as it being super roomy and perfect for all my necessities.
The Shoes– I’m a real lover of high heels. They really do make a women look so much better, as they give you a real height, dominance and also make your legs look amazing. So, finding a lovely pair of shoes that not only look gorgeous, but that would also be comfortable and I would be able to wear again, was super important. Ultimately, I needed a killer pair of high heels, that would be the perfect companion to my outfit for the day, but also a great addition to my wardrobe.
So, these two toned half leather and half suede, high heels were the perfect choice. Not only do they actually tie in with my bag really perfectly, as they both have the two fabric thing going on, they will also go with some many different pieces I have in my wardrobe. They’re so classic and chic, completely my style again, and also have a really modern and feminine edge. I’m not usually a big fan of pointy shoes, however these have changed my mind as I love how they elongate my legs and look so classy. They’re a bit of a must buy if you ask me, as they were a real bargain.
The Fascinator- What is a wedding outfit without a fascinator, and this white one from Claire’s is the perfect choice. It really was the saving grace after hours spent looking for the exact fascinator I wanted, that was beautiful and also an affordable price. Honestly you would never believe how much a bit of organza on a head band could cost! This one is the perfect balance, as it was a really affordable price of only £16, but also looks lovely on and matches exactly with my white satin dress. It adds an extra something to my outfit, and also doesn’t break my bank every time I look at it.
Check out this post if you like to see the dress I’m wearing to accompany these lovely new pieces.
