I hope you all had a great Christmas and enjoyed a good old family day, just chilling out and having fun!
I always find these days in-between Christmas day and the New Year really weird, because everyone’s still getting over the food and all the money that was spent over Christmas, so you don’t really tend to do that much or really go anywhere. So, that results in those 4-5 days potentially being the most boring days of your whole entire life. However, I think that in order to beat the Christmas blues, you need to think positively about the new year, and of course plan what you’re going to wear for the big night of NEW Years EVE!
Everyone likes to celebrate and spend new years eve differently. Some people like to go all out and really party out their last night of 2014, and some people like to be a bit more low-key and go for a family affair and play games and even create their own firework displays. However, I think that whatever you like to do on new years eve, you should always make the effort and dress up for the occasion. It only happens once a year and you’ll always remember your fashion disaster, if you have any, for years to come.
When it comes to New Years Eve and Clothing, the one thing that screams out to me has to be ‘SPARKLE’. Sequins, beads, metallic’s, glitter, anything that reflect the lights and makes you feel like a true glitter ball. There’s not many times that you can really get away with any of these things once you are past around 11 and so you might as well fully embrace the one night you really can.
So, to help and inspire you all on your sparkly outfits for new years eve 2014, I have trawled the internet and picked out the best 20 sparkly items that will rock your world this NYE. There’s something for everyone, with playsuits, shorts, tops, dresses, bags and even shoes. So, what are you waiting for, grab a pen and paper and note down your favourite sparkly beauties that you love, ready for this NYE.

If you are really spending NYE in style this year, then I think that the best idea would be to go for something really special and hopefully something that no one else will turn up in, and that has to be this Topshop limited edition feather hem bodycon dress. It’s absolutely gorgeous, with the amazing feathered hem detailing and the seriously embellished frame, that really gives the vibe of The Great Gatsby and the flapping 20’s and 30’s, with a modern twist. It would look great paired some very simple nude tights and a pair of strappy white or silver heels.
If you are feeling something a little bit more low key and paired down, then the best idea would be to go for an item that could be dressed up or dressed down to create a day time or night time, casual or dressy look. This would be an item such as this navy, nautical inspired top from Miss Selfridge. It’s super cute and nautical, with a great dressy vibe that could be played up or down depending on the occasion. However to keep it super casual I would pair it with some black jeans and maybe a pair of black boots or even white converse, and a leather jacket.
Welcome to day 7 of my 10 day countdown to Christmas!
So, I thought it was about time that we had a little chat about what we’re all going to be looking like on Christmas Day. Obviously everyone is different and some people just like to be super relaxed and wear minimal or no makeup and some comfy jogging bottoms and a tee-shirt; because lets face Christmas is not all about what you look like. However, unfortunately I am just not one of those people and I can’t bare to not dress up and make an effort on a day that only happens once a year, and that everyone waits so long for. I always find that I enjoy the day more if I feel like I am looking my best, and don’t mind having my photo taken etc..
To start off with, we are going to talking all about what is going to be going on from your shoulders and upwards, obviously if you have longer hair, then it is probably more from your boobs and upwards. But basically we going to discuss all things hair and beauty related. That’s goes for what you’re going to do with your hair and if you’re going to wear it up or down, are you going to curl it, plait it or keep it straight? Are you going to wear minimal makeup or go a bit further, are you going to wear a bold, red lip or more of a muted, nude one? There’s so many questions that need to be answered, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if you had not thought about one of them. Which is why I have created this post to fill you with inspiration on what to do with all of those things on the big day!
First let’s start with hair. Hair is always a tricky game to play, as you never quite know what to do with this mane of hair that lives on top of your head. It’s something that has to be thought out very precisely in order for it not only look good all day, but that will also not bug you and make you just want to get a bobble and have a messy bun. So, I have created this cute, little mood board of a couple of ideas to get your juices flowing.
The simple ponytail is always a good card to play, because of how simple, quick and easy it is to do and it literally take sup 30 seconds of your getting ready time. However, you want to add a little bit of something something to make it a bit more Christmas appropriate and not so, I’m going for a run type of feel. So, adding a cute Christmassy bow around your main bobble is a great idea. It looks super cute and festive, as well as being so versatile, because you can just change the colour and add another piece of ribbon to create a whole new dimension and feel to an outfit.
Another great idea is to go for the very simple blow-dry look. Obviously you have two options here, either you go and have your hair blow-dried the day before, it order to wake up with lovely, luscious locks, or you have to be a bit of an expert with a round brush and the hairdryer in order to create this super chic and effortless look to your hair.
Now let’s talk beauty, what’s going to going on in and around the face department. Are you going to go for a more minimal makeup look, kind of everyday, a bit of mascara, foundation and just the nice, natural makeup look. Or, are you going to take it a step further and think about some kind of bold lip, matte or shiny, are you going to try some new eye shadows that you have bought and create a gorgeous smoky eye. It’s really crucial, because I always think that on Christmas day you want to just look really pretty and almost quite toned down. Christmas is a family day, and you should look respectable, and not like you’re going for a night out.
One of my favourite looks to go for, and probably most of the older teenage, early twenties girls in the world, has to be Kylie Jenner’s really flawless base, a good old wing of eye liner, and those nude/brown lips that are just to die for. This makeup looks so good on so many different people and skin tones, as well as being super versatile and able to be made up or down very easily, as well as going well with any outfit or hair style. It also looks so femine and pretty, I just love it!
Another massive trend for Autumn/Winter 2014, that has come back around again from last year, has to be the dark lips and dewy skin combination. This is a great look to go for if you are looking for something much more noticeable, and full on, without looking too made up or like you are going out. You can vamp it up with a dark lip and more intense eye makeup, or vamp it down by wearing a lighter berry shade on your lips with a more muted and nude eye. It’s really up to you.
Welcome to Day 9 of the ultimate, festive countdown to Christmas.
Me and Christmas Shopping, without a doubt, have a love hate relationship. There’s the times when I love going round and picking cute present’s for all my friends and family, that I know each person will love; and then there’s the times when it’s extremely chaotic, and you literally can’t find anything to buy for anyone on your Christmas list.
I don’t really know why there’s so much variation when you go Christmas shopping, but the only thing I can really think of, is time. You need to go at a time when everyone else isn’t going to go, such as a weekday evening, when most people are coming home from work and will not want to then go shopping. These nights are a great way to get some seriously good shopping done, without the chaos of lots of people, and with the benefit of some amazing late night shopping hours.
Another thing which undoubtedly sways me towards hating Christmas shopping, has to be finding the perfect little present, the perfect token to just give to a friend, with a card, to wish them a happy Christmas. I know it might sound easy, but I always want to be more creative than a traditional selection box or the £1/£2 tube of sweets that only get brought out at Christmas (you know the ones I mean, there’s smarties, jelly tots, every sweet going really).
So, in order to satisfy not only my pure hate for finding the perfect ‘token’ gift, but also to help all of you out in finding the perfect little gift for your friends and family, I have decided to base day 9’s post all around a gift guide for those awkward little presents. All cute, little ‘token’s’ that any woman would love. There’s a bit of beauty, cute lifestylely bits, and of course a good old bit of chocolate.
Ted Baker London Beau Box Bathroom Set Mini hat Box £10.00, Pintail Candle in ‘Mulled Wine’ £3.95, dotcomgiftshop Lunch Box Rambling Rose £4.95, Topshop Nail Pyramid in ‘slipper’ £5.00, LUSH Golden Wonder Bath Bomb £3.75, John Lewis Heart Santa bauble Ankle Socks £5.00, Hotel Chocolat Serious Dark Fix Chocolate Selection Box of 8 £8.00, Topshop Lips in ‘Beguilded’ pyramid £8.00, Makeup Revolution Iconic 3 Pallette £4.00
These Candles from Pintails are probably the most amazing all round candles EVER! They are just the perfect blend of candle that smells good (when burnt and before burning), looks good, and is super affordable at around only £3.95 per small tin candle. the only real downside to them is just how small the tin is, and they don’t actually burn for that long if you have it on for more than a couple of hours each time you burn it. But what do you expect for the money! I just think they are the best presents for any woman that loves candles, and I would 100% recommended them any day.
Another cute, little gift idea, that I love, has to be to buy one of LUSH’s famous bath bomb’s. By far, LUSH’s bath bombs are the best bath bombs that I have ever used, and I will ever go back to anything else now I have discovered LUSH. They are just the best luxury bath product ever, and even the people who don’t really do baths that much, will not be able to resist the urge to put the plug in and run one, because they smell so delicious and they give you such a bath experience. I have done this for some of my friends, and I think that it is such a cute way to give someone a token Christmas gift.
I hope you now feel truly inspired on what to buy in those awkward ‘token’ gift moments.
Do you know that I have not posted for the whole of December so far? Well, not any more, because starting today, I am going to be kicking off the 10 day countdown to Christmas, by posting something festive each day right up to Christmas Eve, and maybe even a cheeky post on Christmas day, you never know. It just seemed to be a great way to still be able to join in with all the festive, Christmassy things on here, without having to wait until all the Christmas period is over and start a fresh, clean slate in the new year.
So, to kick off the 10 day countdown slightly more lightly, I have decided to go a bit talky and deep with you all, and discuss what Christmas mean’s to me!
Christmas is like no other British holiday. It’s the one time of the year when nearly everyone in the whole of the country isn’t having to work or go to school, but they are just able to spend quality time with all the people that really mean the most. It’s a time when families and friends come together to celebrate an amazing holiday, with plenty of food, presents, and in my families case, lot’s of games.
The meaning of Christmas for me has definitely changed over the years, obviously when you are little you only think about what presents Santa has brought you and left under the tree, and what new toys you are going to have to play with that day. But as I have gotten older, Christmas seems to have so much more value and worth than it has ever done before; because now I really enjoy going out and buying presents for my friends and ultimately my mum and dad, they have spoilt me so much over the years, and I would like to give them something back. And, also just the whole atmosphere of Christmas, and how shops play Christmas songs to accompany your massive Christmas shopping list, and all the sparkly lights as you drive from village to village. Christmas just seems to be so much more than the presents now, and they are just the nice added extra’s to make the day even better.
As I mentioned earlier, playing games on Christmas day is a massive tradition in our family. It’s the one time of the year when we are allowed to play a game of Monopoly for hours on end, and get away with sticking post-it notes on our heads with different pop stars and animals on. The whole main reason for this, is just because it’s Christmas. There’s no time limits or work the next day, it’s the time to really let your hair down, eat lots of food and for me, spend time with my all my family, especially my cousin who I don’t see as often as I would like to. We all have such busy lives, and have our own careers, hobbies and lives to be getting on with, so it’s so nice when we can all just be together and forgot about all of those things, and just have a great time.
There’s so many other things that I look forward to at Christmas, such as: on Christmas eve my mum always likes to go to the carol service at our local church, and we sing our hearts out to all the best Christmas classics, and then we always have my mum and dads best friends over afterwards, and enjoy plenty of food, open our presents early, and watch any Christmas specials that are on that night. I know it may only seem like a few small things to do, but I just love doing them, and it really resembles the start of Christmas for me.
I hope you have enjoyed reading about all the wonderful, little things that I love about Christmas with my family, and feel inspired to think about what Christmas really means to you.
This Round of The Best Of We Heart It Posts are inspired by a little bit of happiness, some inner courage, and a love for inspiring quotes.
Following on from I said in part 1 , which you can go and have a read of HERE. October was just one of those months that really was filled with so many amazing things. I had so many great opportunities, experienced so many new things, and make loads of new memories that I will always treasure forever. But ultimately the best part of the whole month was how loved and treasured I felt. There was a few events in October such as my birthday party and a trip to Paris, which you can read about in yesterdays post, that really made me realise what great friends I have, and what amazing people I have surrounding me. Personally, I think this is such a massive part of being truly happy, and this quote that I have written on my chalkboard this week, really reminds me of lucky I really am. “Do what makes you happy, be with those who make you smile, and laugh as much as you breathe”- Pinterest <3
October was also a great month for this ‘little blog’, although now I see it as more of a toddler, as I’ve said on my About page.
The reason why I get so overwhelmed and proud of this blog is because when I started out, I never intended to get over 17,000 views, have over a thousand followers, or even work with any brands. The whole point of this blog was just for me to be able to express my individuality and creativity, I suppose I just never thought about how big my audience would become, or how far I would progress. It still seems to me like I’m living one big dream, and when I’m getting over 160 views in one day from countries all over the world, and getting over 1,000 views in just one month, life just does not seem real. There’s no doubt in my mind that I love what I do, but it is such an overwhelming experience, and somehow I don’t think I will ever get over that.
Are there any things that you’re really proud of?
My Absolute Favourite
I think that my absolute favourite from this month’s favourites, has to be “Always do what you’re afraid to do”. I really don’t know why I’m loving such deep life quotes at the moment, but I think it’s the fact that I have my GCSE’s coming up, I have to find a sixth form or college to go to, and really university is only round the corner. I feel like life is going so quick and there is so many prospects of my future that I’m excited about, but that really scare me. That’s supposed to be good, but I need all these quotes to really reassure me that it is.
I hope you have enjoyed this round of the best of we heart it posts. You can go and have a read of part 1 and the rest of the series HERE.
