Shopping Guide – River Island

Hello Lovelies

Welcome to a brand, spanking new post!

Personally, I find certain shops quite difficult to shop and find items in. I really don’t know why, but when you enter them you look round and just seem to not find anything that you like and all the disgusting items just stick out to you like sore thumbs. So after you’ve seen them, your convinced that there’s absolutely nothing in there that you could possibly like, so you make a very quick exit with a horrible and disgusted look on your face.

This often happens to me in H&M. Now obviously the majority of H&M clothes are really nice and when I have a proper look round I tend to find so many really nice things. But when I just go in for a quick look, I just stand there and all the horrible items that look like something you would wear when you’re a cowboy/girl, or that looks like it’s made out of material that is very prominent in your Nana’s nicker draw, seem to attract my eyes, and I just think “OMG”!!!!

I really hope it’s not only me that thinks this, but me and my best friend often have conversations about it, so I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one. So I thought it would be a great idea to almost make a bit of a guide on how to shop in certain places, because let’s face it, shopping isn’t as easy as it looks!

To start of this post series, type thing, I’m going to talk about how to shop in River Island. This is a shop that I personally absolutely love. I just love everything about it! I love the shoes, the bags, the jewellery and definitely the clothes. But I know quite a few people that generally never seem to find anything that they like in there. Now obviously that could just be because they have a different taste to me, but I don’t think it’s because of that. I think they generally just don’t know how to shop in there. So I think it’s a great starting point for my little guide to shopping!

I don’t know if this is clear, so I going to say it anyway. In these posts, the tips I give will be unique to that shop. Obviously you can still use them in other shops, but I have personally chosen them to suit that particular shop.

1. Go in there with an open mind.

Be prepared to step out of your comfort zone a bit and play with new colours, textures and patterns.

2. If something catches your eye as soon as you enter the shop then always try it on.

Trust your first instincts because they’re usually right. It might not look good at all, but at the end of the day, no-one is going to see you in it other than yourself, so don’t worry.

3. Don’t be afraid to over spend!

River Island’s stuff is all really good quality, so don’t be afraid to over spend a little bit, because you can guarantee that it will last a long time.

4. Even the cheaper items are good.

I have a few of the logo tee-shirts from there and I absolutely love them. Usually you get what you pay for, but I think for what you pay for them, they’re great quality.

5. Browse before you pick up.

Look around and get a good feel of what is in the shop and the trends before you pick anything up. But first glance items don’t count.

6. River Island is always massively in trend.

I never go in there and see anything that is last season or a bit past it’s best. All the items are always in trend and are in good condition.

7. Watch out for foundation marks.

Always check white items, such as tee-shirts for foundation marks. Often I go to try something on and it has foundation on it, so I quickly get another one and then go and try it on.

8. Please try on!

Don’t guess what size you need or how it might look. Always try on because you want to see how it looks properly and not just how you think it will look.

9. Pick up one of their own magazines.

They include loads of the new items and are also just a great little read.

10. Have fun!

Love yourself and love your body.

I hope you find this informative and that it has inspired you to go and have a proper look round river island. I love it so much and find so many nice clothes, so hopefully you will to.

Love you all
